Hailey's POV

Falling wasn't the bad part it was the part where I landed on a concrete floor. I could hear Alex in the distance, but when I tried to yell nothing came out. Pain overwhelmed my body, but I tried to yell again. Nothing but a groan came out. Luckily it was enough for Alex to hear because he came charging towards me. I could tell he was in pain too, but he sat down next to me and wrapped his arms around me as if I was dying. He is so over dramatic, but I have to say I like the fact that he cares about me. To be honest I kinda felt like I was dying when his arms wrapped around me. I was really worried about Brittany and Austin, knowing that they were still up there with those killer dolls. I was talking with Alex when I heard a growl echo through the tunnel. I immediately turned to Alex with fear in my eyes. He had the same look. I was hoping that it was his stomach, but he confirmed it wasn't. He suggested that we keep moving and I agreed. I did not want to stay to find out what made that noise. We stood up and held each other's hands. The tunnel began to dip down into the dark.

"I really hate the dark." I complained as we continued to walk.

"Me too." Alex agreed.

"Hopefully we'll find the exit to this place." He said.

"An exit would be nice, but what about Brittany and Austin?" I reminded him.

"Right, let's hope we find them too."

We continued walking downward. Suddenly Alex stopped.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's a dead end." He answered in a shaky voice.

"Well we'll just go back then." I said as if it was no big deal.

"May I remind you of what we heard back there."

"Yah, but we haven't heard it in a while. Maybe it left." I said.

"Well we got no choice, but to go back." He said agreeing.

We turned around and made our way back up the tunnel. There was a dim light up in the distance.

"That's wired." I said.

"What?" He asked confused.

"I don't remember a light around here."

"Now that you said something I don't remember it either."

We were both hesitant to approach the light. As we came closer we saw nothing. We entered the light only to find a door. We disconnected our hands. I stayed back as Alex reached for the knob. He looked at me for approval.

"Do we have a choice?" I said.

He turned the knob and pulled the door as he jumped back.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" We screamed.

We were face to face with a zombie! My body froze. Alex was already on the run as the zombie reached out his arms. I kept telling myself to run, but I just couldn't. The zombie's arms were inches away from my shoulders.

Alex's POV

As soon as I realized that I was a foot away from a zombie I booked it. I just kept running until I realized that there was no footsteps following behind me. I stopped myself.

"Hailey?"

I turned around to see her frozen in a state of shock. The zombie was inches away from her. I had to go back for her. I sprinted back down the now light tunnel. I ran towards Hailey and clasped her wrist. Now pulling her, we ran back up. As soon as I thought we had enough distance between us and that thing I stopped. I was out of breath.

"What is your problem?" I asked between breaths.

"I don't know, I just froze." She answered.

"Well don't!"

"I'll try not too. Thanks for coming back for me."

"No problem."

I leaned up against the wall to catch my breath. Hailey joined me. Either I'm not getting enough oxygen to my brain or the wall was moving. I looked over to Hailey who was as confused as I was. We left the tunnel and turned into another room. Once again it was pitch black.

"Hailey?"

"Yah?"

I found her hand and gripped it. I felt something brush my leg. I assumed it was Hailey.

"Hailey stop."

"What I'm not doing anything." She sounded serious.

My heart started to race.

"Muhahahaha!"

The laughter echoed through the room. Hailey and I jumped.

"Welcome my prey." The voice cackled.

"What does she mean by prey."Hailey asked clearly frightened.

The lights flashed on revealing a room full of snakes.

"Enjoy! Muhahahaha!" The voice disappeared.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh! I hate snakes!" I screamed.

"Me too!"

Hailey squeezed my arm tightly as the snakes slithered towards us. I could see a door in the distance, but it was on the opposite side of the room and the only way to it was through the snakes.

"What do we do?" Hailey asked beginning to panic.

I began to look around for any possible escape routes. I noticed a few vines, but they were a good for feet away.

"Hailey we're going to have to walk through the snakes to get to the vines. From there we can swing over to the door."

Her face paled, but she knew that was the only way. We connected out hands and began to crunch through hissing snakes to the vines. I was the first to grab the vine. I handed it to Hailey. She stepped up onto a little boulder and clutched onto the vine. I helped by giving her a push. She swung and made it to the raised platform also known as safety. She threw the vine back, but it broke before I could reach it. I began to deal out. I reached up for another vine, but even standing on the boulder I couldn't reach them. I was stranded. I could see that Hailey was freaking out too. She began to climb down the wall.

"Hailey stay there!" I yelled.

"But what about you?" She asked.

"I don't know, but you need to go!"

"I can't leave you here!"

"Hailey! the snakes are rising! Go while you still have a chance!"

"But Alex!"

"Go! I'll find you again! I promise, this isn't the end!"

"Alex!"

She began to tear up.

"What?"

"I just wanted to say... I really like you."

My heart sank. I liked her too and I wasn't going to live to even kiss her. I started to tear up to.

"I like you too."

With that she turned around and disappeared through the

door.

The snakes were now nipping at my ankles as they quickly rose.

"Well I guess this is the end for Alex Constancio." I whispered to myself as I was now waist deep in snakes.

"Goodbye Hailey..."
