Alex's POV
Austin and I made our way over to the edge of the dumpster and attempted to get out. Austin went first. He pulled himself up and lay on the edge. He looked like he needed help to finish getting over so I gave him a little push. All I heard was him screaming and a thump. I hoisted myself up so I could see what happened and saw that it was a long way down and Austin flat on the ground. I guess he wasn't stuck, he was just figuring out how to get down. Whoops.
"Alex! Why did you do that?" He said as he dusted himself off aggressively.
"I thought you were stuck." I admitted.
He just glared at me. I rolled over the side and gently slid myself down. I walked over and helped finish dusting off Austin.
We scanned the yard. A towering fence surrounded us and the only path we could find was the dirt road ahead of us. We walked along the narrow path to nowhere, which gave me a lot of time to think about things.
"This haunted house isn't like the others you've forced me to go to." I blurted out.
"No, when you were unconscious Brittany said that she thinks were not supposed to be able to get out and I'm beginning to think she's right." Austin said.
"The things that have happened to us are far more real and dangerous and I think that Brittany is right."
"So then what do we do?" He asked.
"Well we could die or we can stick together and beat the odds." I said weighing out the options.
"Well I know I'm not going to die without a fight so let's try to find Brittany and Hailey and get the heck out of here in one piece." Austin said.
The path was cut off by the side of the building with a small little window.
"Do you want to go first or shall I?" I asked.
"After you." Austin said motioning me to climb through.
I walked up to the window and glanced inside.
"Well it's dark." I said as I leaned my head in.
It was a tight fit, but I with the help of Austin shoving me through I landed face first onto the floor. I should have saw it coming.
"Ooops, sorry." Austin said sarcastically.
Austin was halfway through the window. I grabbed his hands and started to pull, but he was stuck. I gave one last heave and he came flying out landing on me.
"Well that was easy." I said sarcastically.
We both got up and felt our way around the room.
"Hey Alex over here!" Austin yelled.
I eventually got to the spot where Austin was waiting, He had found a door. Austin opened the door and we entered more darkness. We walked in at the same time, but instead of a floor being there it was a pit. Austin and I were free falling until we ended up on a slide. Austin went one way and I went the other, but we were still able to see each other. Our slides connected up ahead, so Austin got ready to switch over to mine. I grabbed his arms and hauled him over. He was in front of me now as we picked up speed.
"Woah!" We yelled.
We twist and turned in every direction. I looked past Austin's head and saw we were heading towards an air vent cover.
"Uh oh." I said.
There was nothing we could do so Austin held out his legs hoping to either stop us or remove the cover. We ended up removing the cover and shot out of the vent as if we were shot from a cannon. Austin and I entered a room fully lit and saw Brittany and Hailey along with two zombies in our landing path. Brittany and Hailey looked at us as we flew over them tackling the two zombies that were in front of them. The zombies broke our fall, but I think I would have rather landed on the floor. When we landed on them it made this disgusting squishy sound and I could feel their slimy, cold, bloody skin press against mine. Austin and I got up quickly.
"Hailey!" I yelled.
"Alex!" She yelled.
"Brittany!" Austin yelled.
"Austin!" Brittany yelled.
Austin and I ran to give them a hug, but they backed away in disgust.
"What?" I asked.
They pointed at our clothes. We looked down to find ourselves covered in blood and pieces of guts. Austin and I looked at each other disgusted.
"Uhh...Uhh!" The zombies groaned as they attempted to get up.
"Uh, guys? I think we should go now." Hailey said with fear.
I didn't even look back, I did not want to know.
"How do we get out of here?" I asked.
"I don't know, there's no windows or doors." Brittany stated.
"There's a door right there." Austin said pointing behind them.
"Oh." Brittany said embarrassed.
"Please don't tell me it's locked." Hailey whined.
The zombies were now up and coming towards us at increasing speed.
"Surprisingly it's not." Brittany said shocked.
She held it open as we all piled through. There was one problem though... The door wouldn't shut. We all gathered around Brittany and tugged at the door. It wouldn't budge and the zombies were getting closer. The door finally released and it slammed shut, disconnecting one of the zombies arms.
"Eww." Hailey said.
I walked over to Hailey and gave her a kiss.
"I'm so glad you guys came back." She said almost in tears.
"I'm just glad you're alright." I said.
Brittany walked up to Austin and gave him a peck on the cheek.
"Thanks for saving me." She whispered to Austin before she walked over to join Hailey and I.
Austin's face was bright red and he had a huge grin on his face. He trotted over to us and we all discussed the fact that this was not a haunted house, but in fact a death trap. We all agreed to stay together no matter what and to have each other's back. Austin bent down and picked up the dislocated arm.
"Eww! Austin don't touch that!" Brittany yelled.
"What?"
He began to play around with it, like a baby plays with a rattle. Austin giggled at our disgusted facial expressions.
"Haha. Look at your faces!"
Suddenly the arm spun around in his hand and latched onto his face. We all screamed, but Austin was screaming the loudest as he tried to pry the hand from his face. He threw the hand from his face to the floor in our direction. The arm was still. We all stared at it waiting for it to move. Once again the hand moved crawling towards Hailey. Hailey leaped into my arms unexpectedly, but I did not drop her. I ran towards Brittany and Austin with Hailey screaming in many arms. The hand redirected itself, now after Brittany and Austin. Brittany jumped onto Austin's back and we all ran down the hallway screaming like a bunch of maniacs.
