Austin's POV
As Brittany and I lagged behind the group of kids we rescued, down the path that started it all, I had this creepy feeling that someone was watching me. I tried to ignore it, but it really bugged me, so I looked over my shoulder. Standing there on the porch of the burning house in the distance was the witch I saw destroyed.
"Ahh." I squealed softly.
"Austin, you okay?" Brittany asked, clearly noticing my paranoia.
"Yeah everything's fine." I lied.
Soon the house was out of our sight except for the tip of the flaming roof. We were almost back to the parking lot as we walked up the winding path.
"How's your hand Alex?" Hailey asked.
"What's wrong with Alex's hand?" I asked confused.
"I burnt it trying to grab the fire extinguisher, but it's okay. Just a little red." He said hiding his hand.
"Are you sure, that's all?" Brittany asked.
"Yes."
"Then why are you hiding your hand?" Hailey asked, raising one eyebrow in suspicion.
"Hailey really it's nothing." Alex said, looking at his feet.
"Okay, now I know you're definitely lying." I smiled.
"Alex let us see. Please." Hailey said gently.
Alex revealed his hand. It was definitely red all right, but it was also covered in blisters. Hailey and Brittany wore an expression of disgust on their faces as they turned their heads away.
"Oh God Alex! You need to go to the hospital and get that taken care of!" I yelled.
"Austin it's not that bad."
"Dude, do you not see your hand right now?" I said loudly.
"Alex, seriously you do need to go to a hospital." Hailey agreed.
"Fine." Alex mumbled.
We got to the parking lot and walked to our cars. The group of kids stopped at the end of the path as we arrived at our cars.
"Dang! This is your car?" I asked Brittany.
"Yup. Jealous?" She teased.
"No... okay yes!" I admitted.
She giggled.
"So where's your ride?" Brittany asked.
"Um..."
I was embarrassed to show Brittany my car, because it was my mom's mini van. My dad took my camero.
"Well there's only one other car in the parking lot and that's the mini van." Hailey pointed out.
"Hah, don't tell me that's your mini van!" Brittany laughed.
My face turned bright red.
"No it's my mom's. I actually have a camero, same as you."
"Oh really?" She teased.
"Yes."
"Sorry to interrupt, but what are we going to do with all those kids?" Alex asked.
"Well we can't just leave them here." Hailey said.
"I guess we'll have to drive them home." I suggested.
"It's a good thing you brought your mini van." Alex laughed.
"Hahaha, very funny." I said a little annoyed.
