Chapter 10

It was John Hunter. Holy crapballs it was seriously him.
Derek finally left the restaurant after John Hunter threatened to call the police. I start to get up when I see a hand in front of my face. "Here, let me help you" he took my hand and pulled me up. I brushed my hair out of my face and his reaction was priceless. He didn't even realize who I was at first. He just saw a girl that needed help and decided to step in. Aw. What a little gentlemen.
"Abbi?" he asked quietly
I give him a small smile "that's me"
he chucked and all I heard was a faint "wow" under his breath. 'I know I'm uglier in person' was what I was thinking.
"You're even more beautiful in person. You're breathtakingly beautiful." I felt my face turn red
why does he have to be so sweet?
"thank you" I shyly say, and walk away picking up trash from Derek's table.
"I didn't know you lived in North Carolina" he said
"Yeah I do. I've lived here since I was 8" I said
"See, when my parents died, I was 4. It's just my grandpa and I now so we decided to get a fresh start and move here. My grandpa loves racing and he races himself, so we decided North Carolina would be best" I said while wiping down the table
"I'm glad you decided to come here. NC is a pretty fantastic place, especially for race fans" JH said.
I agree.

I finally got off work and John Hunter had asked me to come to his house for dinner. I reluctantly agreed to it. Meeting new people is a hard thing for me.

I get to his house and it's huge. It's an adorable house though. He has the cutest dog ever. I met his parents, which I had to contain my inner fan girl. I've watched his dad race for as long as I can remember, so getting to meet him was an honor. I mean, who doesn't love Joe Nemechek?
We ate dinner and played games. It was getting late so his parents went to bed.
"Hey Abbi, it's getting late. You're more than welcome to just stay the night here if you're okay with that" his mom said
"Thank you, Ma'am, but I couldn't intrude in your house like that!" I reply back, respectfully
"It's no bother, dear. Please stay!" she proceeded and I looked at John Hunter, all he did was shrug. Thanks JH. "I'd love to, Ma'am. thank you" I gave her a hug
"You can just wear John Hunter's clothes as pjs" she winks and leaves the room.
"Oh" JH said
"Oh" I said louder
We both look at each other and laugh
"Did your mom really just wink at me" I say in a laughing fit
"Oh my gosh. My Mother, ladies and gentlemen" he replied
"I'll go get go some clothes" he replied and went upstairs. I decided to follow him because I didn't wanna be down there alone.
"So this is wear THE John Hunter Nemechek sleeps, huh? Not too shabby" I say and he laughs, throwing his clothes at me
"Nice catch" he winks and laughs
Weirdo.
I go into the bathroom to change into a pair of basketball shorts and a number 8 Tshirt.
I walk out and see that JH has also changed clothes
"Do you wanna see something?" he asked me
"Sure!" I said excitedly
"follow me" he said grabbing my hand
