You watched from afar as Murasakibara playfully ruffled the dark hair of another girl, your eyes glazed over as you remembered the time when he did that to you. Feeling your heart ache, you turned away and continued to walk back home, starting to feel your eyes sting.

I don't mind. Keep doing that, after all the pain feels good.

You opened the door to your house, greeted by silence. Your parents weren't home yet. They had told you earlier that they were working the late shifts and to get yourself dinner. Not really in the mood, you took out your phone and went to your room.

You checked your texts.

Usually, Murasakibara would be texting you by now, but he doesn't do that anymore.

Maybe he's texting that other girl, you thought.

As long as you're happy with this, I don't mind.

The guilt was eating you up inside. It was all your fault. Maybe you shouldn't have done the things that you did, said the things that you did. There were so many ways avoid that.

What if...

What if...

What if...

None of that ever happened.

Where would we be now?

You pushed your face against your pillow as you felt warm tears leaking out of your eyes. It had been more than an hour since you had to go to sleep, but you just couldn't. No matter how hard you tried, the "us" that Murasakibara and you formed kept coming back.

It's about to drive me to the brink of insanity, but if it's you, I don't mind.

Of course you didn't get your homework done. Any of it. You were too deep in your despair to want to do it. So you were forced to stay after school.

You walked into your teacher's classroom to see her talking to Murasakibara about something. After she was done, Murasakibara turned and spotted you by the door. He walked past you, not saying anything except a short "Hi (f/n)-chin." You swallowed the lump in your throat and walked up to your teacher's desk.

"You...wanted to see me?"

"You...wanted to see me?" asked Murasakibara, opening a bag of potato chips.

"Well, yeah..." you answered, attempting to cover your slightly blushing face. "We've known each other for a pretty long time and....um....I like you..."

You looked away.

Murasakibara stopped eating his chips a put a hand on your head. "Yeah, we did know each other for a long time, (f/n)-chin," he said. "I guess I like you too."

"Yes, I did (l/n)-chan. Are you okay?" your teacher asked.

"What?"

"Your attitude has changed drastically since the last few weeks. You're the type of person who would be concerned about their academic studies. It isn't possible for you to not complete an assignment."

"Oh..." was all you could muster. "I've been a bit busier these last weeks."

Your teacher eyed you skeptically, but not wanting to push you, let you go sit down. You sat at a desk and completed all of the other day's assignments and turned them into your teacher.

On the way back to your house, you passed by one of Murasakibara's favorite snack stores. Wondering if he was there, you walked up to the front door. Just as you were about to open the door, two people walked out of the store and you jumped out of the way of the swinging door.

The two people were Murakibara and the girl you saw from yesterday. They were laughing and carrying the snacks that you assumed they had just bought. Murasakibara didn't seem to notice you, or he just didn't care. You turned and proceeded to walk back home, feeling tears welling up in your eyes.

No, stop crying. This isn't something you should cry over.

You put the heel of your hands on both eyes, willing away the tears. You opened the door to your house and made a straight beeline towards your room. Once you were in there, you let yourself cry.

Why couldn't things have been different...?

I don't mind.

I don't mind.

I DON'T MIND.

Because I'm the one that hurt you.
