When I look at the sky, I smile. I can only think of the happy times we had.
I'd like to think that even though we're apart, we're still under the same sky.
All those memories together, I'd like to keep them.
I'll write them into a song and give it to you when we meet again.
Somewhere,
"This is heaven!" You blurt out when I hand you the king-sized burger I ordered for us.
"Told you, it's worth jumping off the windows."
You squint and I just giggle back.
"The dance teacher!" I cut you off and calmly tell you to run on the count of three. But before I could finish, you already grab my hand.
"Let's just run, you idiot!"
We run and laugh like there's no tomorrow.
Someday,
After the music ended, I become numb. I couldn't even breathe properly.
I know I've done my best but those eyes that are judging me make me think twice.
"Don't worry. We'll get this." You whisper.
My worries then disappear as you hold my hand tightly.
At the same time,
"I can't do this anymore!" You cry out.
"Maybe I am not born to be a performer."
It pains me seeing you like this. This is your dream—our dream. If there's anyone who truly believes in you, it is me.
I force you to stand up and let you see yourself in the mirror.
"So what if you're not. You can be one." I tell you reassuringly.
I turn the music on and dance weirdly in front of you to make you smile again.
At the same place,
Everyone is shouting your name. The crowd cheers for you as you perform your winning stage.
As you receive your trophy, you gladly thank everyone who helped you reach your dreams.
However, when our eyes meet, your expression begins to change.
"To my best friend, thank you. I'm sorry I.." You couldn't finish your speech since tears starts to escape from your eyes.
I can only smile. You deserve this.
You and I
I climb up the stage where you are practicing. I grab you by the shoulder and let you face me.
"You are sick! Don't be so stubborn and rest." I demand but you just brush me off.
"I don't care if I die practicing. We're almost there. I don't want to be the one to ruin our dreams. Please, just let me."
I heave out a sigh in defeat.
We have come a long way and you've already proven your worth. I know someday, it will all pay off.
I decide to leave however I suddenly hear a creaking sound above us.
One of the lighting equipment starts to fall.
At that moment, I only have one thing in mind.
will meet again.
Looking at the song that I am writing, I don't know why tears keep on falling.
There were no regrets.
I had to save your dreams even if I had to sacrifice mine.
