Dean's POV
Shortly after we graduated, Cas and I got a little apartment to share while we got jobs and saved up to move somewhere better. It was small and falling apart, but it was ours. Within the first week there we had coated the walls in our photographs, filled the cupboards with my band logo glasses and Cas's plain ones, set up our bed with his hard pillow and my fluffy pillow, fixed the showerhead so it let out more than a drizzle of water every once in a while, set up our small black couch, perfectly positioned the tv so we could both see it from either side of the couch, and stocked the fridge with all our favorite foods. Burgers and burritos for Cas, more burgers and Bacon and all kinds of meat for me. It was officially our place. There were garages where I stored my baby when I wasn't driving her, and Cas had a close parking spot. He had agreed to let me have the garage, since my baby was so important to me. Sammy had graduated High School, and soon would begin college at Stanford. He wanted to be a lawyer. Gabriel had graduated a hear ahead of Sam, and was now in the middle of opening up a cute little candy shop. Cas had gotten a job at a television studio, making nature documentaries. He had a strange affinity for bees and birds. Especially bees. I had become an author. I wrote about ghosts and spirits, werewolves and vampires, shapeshifters and demons, angels and skinwalkers, any creatures I could think of. I researched the lore, making sure to check my facts, but put my own spin on most of them. I turned Sam and I into the main characters. Cas became an angel, and Gabriel an archangel. Charlie became the same as Sam and I, a hunter. My father became a martyr, and the mystery behind the fire that killed my mother was resolved. I added in other made up characters, but I stuck with Sam, Cas, Gabriel, Charlie, and my father for the main plotline. They were good books, and I was proud of them. I wrote an entire series, and I named them Supernatural. I sent the first book to a publisher, but I really wasn't expecting to get published on my first try. Which is why when I got a reply in the mail earlier today, the day of mine and Cas's fifth anniversary, saying that they loved my book and they wanted to publish my entire series, I was shocked. I stared at the letter for several minutes, until Cas walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. He stood on his toes to look over my shoulder, scanning the letter. "Oh my god Dean, you got published?!" I tossed down the letter and spun around. I grabbed Cas's hands and kissed him. "I'm getting published!" my eyes were wide and my smile was genuine. Cas smiled happily back at me. "I have to call Sam!" I yanked my phone out of my pocket and dialed Sammy's number. I paced back and fourth, waiting. After three rings, he picked up, a few seconds of static before Sam's voice cut in.
S- "Hello?"
D- "Sammy?"
S- "What's up Dean?"
D- "I got it Sam!!!!"
S- "Got what?"
D- "I got a publishing deal for Supernatural!!!"
S- "Seriously? How many of the books?!"
D- "All of them!!!"
S- "That's amazing Dean!"
We talked for a few more minutes, excited chatter, before hanging up. Cas wrapped his arms around my waist and grinned at me, standing on his toes to kiss me again. "I'm so proud of you Dean." He murmured. I kissed his cheek and set about texting all of my friends to tell them about my big break. After a few hours, I calmed down enough to sit down and finish the last few pages of the last chapter of the last book. I had them all written, each in it's own seperate box in a wide closet. Each box was labeled with the name of the book, which book it was, and the date it had been finished. I put the last book in my closet, then pulled out the first book. I made sure I had the electronic copy still saved on my laptop, then taped the box shut. I went to the store and bought a bubble wrap mailer envelope, then sealed my book into it and went to the post office. After stamps and address we're added, I mailed it to the publishing office. On the way home, I decided to celebrate, so I stopped to buy some steaks and some beer, and a few roses. When I got home,Cas was in the shower, so I cooked up the steaks for Cas and I, then grabbed a beer for myself and a coke for Cas. I set up the table and lit some candles, then set the roses in a vase and set it on the sink in the bathroom so he would see it when he got out of the shower. I smiled, satisfied with the amount of romanticism that I had been able to muster up. I kept the steaks warm in the pan until I heard the telltale gasp of Cas finding the flowers, and the click of the bathroom door opening. He padded out into the kitchen in nothing but an oversized shirt of mine, clutching the flowers with a dopey smile on his face. I transferred the steaks to the plates on the table, then took the roses from Cas and set them on the table. I pulled his chair out for him, smiling as he settled into the soft cushion. I kissed the top of his head before moving to take my own seat. "I love you Castiel Novak. And here's to us, because do you know what today is besides the day I got published? Our official five year anniversary." He grinned. "I was afraid you forgot..." He murmured. I shook my head. "Never Cas, I'd never forget anything about you, or anything about us."
