Castiel's POV
Over our years at college, Dean and I filled every available space on our dorm room walls with photographs of the two of us. We didn't even have to take them down for the summer, because we took summer classes as well. I loved Dean. He had helped me when I was down and out, taught me what it was like to be happy again, showed me how to have fun. I owed so much to this man with the messy dark blond hair and the emerald green eyes. I owed him my life. The reason I loved him wasn't because I owed him. It was because he was kind. It was because he was sweet. It was because he never lied to me about where he went when he went out with his friends. It was because he slotted his fingers between mine and rested our hands on the shift when he drove. It was because he kissed my cheek and told me I was beautiful more than he kissed my lips and told me I was sexy. It was because of so many things he did, so many little things that were just so important, even if they seemed insignificant. I loved him with all of my heart, and I would never stop loving him. Dean had this cute little habit. Instead of telling me where our next date would be, he left me a picture of the location. They were all places I'd been, so there was no problem finding them. He left them stuck to the front of the fridge with a magnet of our official senior prom picture. Today there was a picture of my favorite on-campus restaurant. I grinned and changed out.my sweater for my favorite to wear of Dean's t-shirts. It was a black AC/DC shirt with a frayed hem and small holes worn in near the bottom. It was well loved, and when I wore it I fell closer to him. It might seem silly, but it's true. And it didn't help that Dean wore it so often that the smell of his cologne was permanently woven into each stitch of the fabric. I inhaled deeply as I pulled the shirt over my head, breathing in the subtly sweet cologne. I switched out my black shoes for a pair of black and white converse, then took my contacts out and put my glasses on. Dean seemed to like me better with my glasses. I readjusted my angel wing necklace and quickly brushed my teeth, then put a few mints in my pocket. I grabbed my trenchcoat and pulled it on, then started walking, the pictures from the fridge gripped in one hand. When I arrived, Dean was standing at the door in red jeans and Black Sabbath shirt. His brilliant green eyes were sparkling as they always did, and he gently pushed open the door as I approached. He closed the door behind us, then gently took my hand. I smiled at him, following him to our table. He handed me a menu and pulled my chair out before sitting down. "You know what you want?" He asked. I laughed quietly and pushed my menu toward him. "As always." He grinned and put his menu on top of mine. We talked until the waitress arrived to take our orders. She was a good friend of our from our copious visits to the restaurant. "Hey Anna!" I smiled at her. She smiled back, flipping to a clean page in her order book. "Hey Cas, Hey Dean. The usuals?" We both nodded. Anna scribbled down our orders, then smiled again and walked away. A few minutes later, she returned with an ice water and a root beer. She sat the water in front of me and the pop in front of Dean, then left again. I pulled my glass toward.me to take a sip of my water, rattling the ice with my straw. I felt the back of my neck burn and looked up to find Dean staring at me, grinning. "What?" He just let his smile grow wider, shaking his head. "Nothing Cas." I glared. "Tell me." He rolled his eyes and bit his lip. "I was just thinking about how cute you are..." He murmured, leaning forward so his face was inches from mine. I leaned in and gave him a small kiss. "You're cuter." I chuckled. He shook his head, about to argue with me, but was interrupted by the arrival of our food. We both had burgers, his huge and piled with different toppings, and mine smaller with a lot less toppings. He looked at his burger, then back up at me. He grinned and picked up the burger. I smiled and did the same.
