Exactly five years into the future.
Dean's POV
I walked quietly into the kitchen at seven in the morning to make pancakes. You might be wondering why I was making pancakes at seven A.M. Well, that would be because it was Mary Miracle Winchester's fifth birthday. I had a plan to make a birthday pancake. Chocolate pancakes with frosting mixed into the batter, and five silver candles on top. I felt warm arms wrap around my waist and turned my head. "Morning Cas." I whispered. He stood on his toes to rest his chin on my shoulder, looking down at the birthday pancakes in my hands. His face lit up in a bright smile and he kissed my cheek. "This is perfect Dean, she's going to love it." I smiled back, then poured out a glass of chocolate milk. A quick glance at the clock confirmed that it was now seven thirty. Time to wake up our little Mary. I put the pancakes and the milk on a pink princess tray and brought it to her room. I eased open the door and walked over to her bed. Setting the tray on her nightstand, I slid my hand up and down her arm. "Mary, wake up!" I said in a singsong voice, grinning at her. She opened deep chocolate eyes, raising a hand to rub them sleepily. "Good morning Mary! Happy birthday!!" Mary grinned and sat up, her pretty brown hair falling around her shoulders. "Good morning Daddy Dean!!" She said, eyes sparkling. She saw Castiel and turned to him. "Good morning Daddy Cas!!" Cas smiled back and took her small hand in his. "Happy Birthday Mary Miracle Winchester." He said. She grinned again. I picked up the tray and set it on her lap. "Special breakfast for a special day!" Her eyes went wide and her mouth fell open. I pulled out my zippo and quickly lit the candles, then snapped the top shut to extinguish the little flame. I grabbed Cas's hand and we both sang her happy birthday. She squealed happily and clapped when we finished the song. "Make a wish before you blow out the candles baby." I said, smiling happily. This was the first year she had been old enough for candles and fire, so this was her first birthday wish. She crossed her little fingers and squeezed her eyes shut, then whispered something really quiet and blew out the candles. Cas and I cheered and clapped. She waited patiently while I took the still-hot candles out of the pancakes and wrapped them in a napkin, then picked up her fork and dug in, eyes wide and sparkling with joy.
Cas's POV
At noon, Mary's friends began to show up. Four boys and two girls from her kindergarten class. Jake, Andy, Luke, Josh, Ashley, and Brooke. We had food, cake, ice cream, and games. The kids mostly just played games until it was time for Mary to open her presents. They all gathered in the living room, and Mary sat on the couch, grinning like crazy. the kids she invited each brought one present, and she got two each from me and Cas. From her friends, she got three different Barbie dolls, a large, fluffy, pink stuffed elephant, a kit to grow a tiny tree and a rainbow loom. From Cas, she got an easel and some canvasses, along with watercolor paint. From me, she got two kids books, a DVD of her favorite cartoon (Teen Titans), and a plushie of her favorite from the show (Beast Boy). It was a good day, and she was happy. Later that night, once everyone left, she walked up to me and lifted her arms. I knew her signals, so I leaned down and scooped her into my arms. She wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her face against my chest. I smiled and gently rocked her, humming gently. "Did you have fun today Mary?" She nodded, not lifting her head. "Thank you daddy Dean." She whispered. Cas came into the room and smiled, leaning against the doorway. Mary tugged at my shirt, which was her signal for me to put her down. I did, and she walked sleepily over to Cas. She looked up at him and raised her arms. He broke into a grin and pulled her into his arms, arms snug around her to keep her from slipping. I could barely hear her whisper, but I just made out a quiet; "Thank you daddy Cas." I smiled and my heart melted. "Anything for you princess." He whispered back, kissing the top of her head. He cradled our little girl in his arms, eyes bright and sparkling. I walked over and stood on Cas's side, slipping an arm around his waist. "I think it's time for this princess to get some beauty sleep." I said. Cas nodded and laid the almost-sleeping girl in my arms. I held her for a few seconds, then carried her up the short hallway. Cas opened her door and I walked in. He pulled back the covers and I laid her on top of the sheet. He pulled the covers up to her chin, and soon she was barely keeping her eyes open. I knelt down and kissed her forehead. "Good night princess, I love you."
"I love you too daddy Dean."
Cas smiled and followed suit, kneeling as well. "Good night, happy birthday, and I love you." He said, brushing her hair out of her face. "I love you too daddy Cas." She said, letting her heavy eyelids finally fall shut. Cas and I crept out and shut the door, then went down the hall, back to the bedroom we shared. That night, we slept wrapped in each other's arms, smiles still on our lips when we woke up.
