"Going away on vacation while exams are so close? I don't know if I like the idea." My mom frowned apprehensively.

"But it's not even that far!" I argued, "And it's for Alistair, he's counting on me Ma. Do you want me to let him down?"

"No of course not my baby but-"

"I'll take my work with me and we'll work on it together when he's he doesn't have matches." I promised, "I already discussed it with him" I huffed in annoyance, "Come on Ma I'll do my homework he'll make sure of it, won't you Ali?" I stared hopefully at the nervous taller boy in his karate attire.

"Erm, Yes Mrs Hansmen, I will make sure that Kyler will complete his given assignments. We shall be flying to Durban on Friday and drive the rest of journey until we reach our location of accommodation, which is 4km from where the location is taking place" Alistair explained nervously, "If you have any other inquiries you may speak to my mother before Friday" He handed a typed piece of paper explaining where we'll be going along with a plane ticket.

"You already paid for his ticket? Oh goodness if your mom told me earlier I would have gladly paid for him myself" Ma gasped as if someone bought her a puppy, "At least let me pay you back, plane tickets are rather expensive these days."

"That won't be necessary, we pay for Kyler because we enjoy his company and we want him to be a part of the experience. I would really appreciate it if he was there with me" Alistair with his usual politeness assured her.

"I-" Suddenly my mom looked indecisive, because she likes the idea of Alistair and I being so close, "I'll talk to his father tonight, but I'm sure it shouldn't be an issue." She replied with a more relaxed smile because that's the effect Alistair has on people's parents with his mooshy politeness, I can't say it hasn't saved us.

"Thanks Ma, you won't regret it" I grinned eagerly.

"I wish I could believe you, I'm only allowing it this time because Alistair is with you." She said sternly and ouch that dampened the mood just a bit because of that one time –

"I'll look after him" He agreed and even though no one was looking at me I could feel that the energy in the kitchen had been moved on me as if I was a wanted criminal.

"You make it sound like I murdered someone" I mumbled unhappily, shifting my feet from side to side.

"I'm sorry my boy, you know I'm just apprehensive." She said resting her back against the sink.

"Yeah I get it but I haven't done anything hectic lately."

"Yes, you're right" She sighed, "Okay, you kids you can go back to whatever you were doing upstairs while I finish dinner"

"Okay" I mumbled as I Alistair followed me back to my room nervously, playing with his thumbs and biting his lips, "What?" I grumbled irritably at him when he kept glancing at me once we reached my room.

"Does she know that we were making out in your room?"

"The fuck Alistair?" I hissed as I closed the door, "Of course she doesn't, and we're going to keep it that way."

What Alistair 'forgot ' to tell me was that our flight was booked for 8am meaning that we had to be at the airport by 7:30 am which concludes I had to wake up at 6:00 which is basically the same time I wake up for school which in case you haven't noticed I am thoroughly unimpressed with.

"I'm sorry, I should've told you last night" He smiled apologetically as we get into his mom's Bentley with his fresh dry hair and clean grey sweater.
