"Kyler! We just came back from holidays can you please behave for one lesson?" Ms. Harrison, who had dyed her eyebrows a contrasting black from her blonde her, sighed in exasperation.
"Sorry Ma'am." I stopped throwing notes to Rita and sank in my seat.
Coming back to school was one of the worst things I could've possibly done on a Monday morning. I really wish I'd pretended to be sick and so I could spend the rest of the day skyping Alistair on his free day.
"Did you even hand in your book review?" She looked at me expectantly.
"There was a book review?" Sean stared at her blankly.
"Yes there was" Ms. Harrison glared at him, "Class, you had time before and during the holidays to complete this task, all together you has 5 weeks to read a book and do a 2 page review on it. Were you not told?"
"Yes ma'am." The class mumbled guiltily.
"And how many of you actually did it?" 5 people and Taylor put their hands up.
"Thank you to those who bothered to do their work." She smiled at them, "As for the rest of you, you have 2 weeks to hand in a 2 page review and I would really appreciate it if you actually read the book." She glared at me and Sean.
"Did you actually do it?" I whispered to Rita behind me.
"I handed it in before the beginning of the holidays." She stated calmly and continued whatever work she was doing.
"I should've known." I muttered, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that I was paid to be to your personal assistant" She looked up at me with a death stare.
"Geez, I'm already receiving enough bitch vibes from the fact that it's a Monday."
"Not sorry." She replied cheerfully and continued writing whatever she was writing. Were we supposed to be writing something?
"-page 45 and 46 of your textbooks for next week Monday where we will be focusing on Film Study." I caught Ms. Harrison towards the end of her sentence, "Are we clear Kyler?"
"Uh-Yes Ma'am. Crystal clear." I gave her the brightest smile I could. She squinted her eyes and I prayed that she didn't ask what she's just said because I honestly had no idea; through the corner of my eye, Sean was in the back corner of the class by the window playing a well enjoyed game of flappy bird on mute, why that sneaky-
"Looks like it's the end of the lesson, I'll see you again tomorrow." She announced and everyone made a run for the door.
I felt a little out of place spending break with Rita and Sean and the rest of group. It didn't feel as entertaining as it used to be, I wasn't as occupied as I usually was with everyone and I wasn't as talkative as I usually am; but no one really seemed to notice except Rita.
"Hey, are you okay?" She whispered, her voice laced with concern.
"Yeah, I'm just tired." I forced a smile and tried to be more useful to the conversation occurring.
"Ugh, aren't we all?" Veranic, that cute girl with the red hair, sighed.
Everyone burst into hums and nods of agreement; all discussing what they did the previous night that caused them to be so tired this morning.
"I spent the night catching up on Game Of Thrones" Sean announced.
"Well it was my sister's 21st so it was pretty hectic." Rita grinned.
