It's 1:30am and I'm still sitting on the couch, thinking about how this day went. I wasn't able to give Lehi a tour outside simply because I was avoiding him. I didn't even talk to him on our way to work--even at the office I just ignored him specially when Scarlet was all over him again. Seriously, can't she control herself? And why don't he even stop her--right, they probably have a relationship and it's none of my business. I started walking to my room humming Pachelbel's Canon to distract my mind from the thing that's bugging it. I was about to reach my room when I bumped into something hard. I looked up and saw him--Lehi--standing in front of me. What, does he have metal for his chest?
"Sorry" I mumbled while I rub my forehead.
"It's fine. Hey, it's almost 2am, why are you still awake? We got work tomorrow."
I just ignored what he said. It's as if I even needed sleep, I might even be ready before he gets out of bed. I shut the door behind me stopping myself from even thinking about how worried his eyes were when I just ignored what he said. I sat on my bed playing with my jet black curls when La Traviata played on my iPhone, yep, that's my ringtone. I don't even have to check the screen to know that it was Ezra calling.
"Don't tell me you need rescuing." I answered.
"Nope, I can take care of myself. I'm coming over, be at your front door in 5, 4, 3, 2..."
"Wait, I'm in my--" I didn't even finish what I was going to say when there was a loud knock on the front door. That's how Ezra is, he doesn't believe in doorbells. "It's for kids" he says. I was about to go down the stairs when I noticed Lehi walking slowly towards the door, a baseball bat in hand. Crap! I forgot about him and where the hell did he get a bat? I rushed towards him, stopping him on time before he hits Ezra.
"Lehi, stop!" I screamed.
"Whoa..." was all that Ezra mustered, he was surprised to see Lehi.”Who is this?" he asked.
"The question is, who are you and what are doing here this time of night?" Lehi glared at my smirking best friend. They kept on glaring at each other so I broke the silence.
"Lehi, this is Ezra. He often comes here at night to keep me company." I looked at Ezra, "I'll tell you all about it later."
"Okay. You should go back to where you and your bat came from. It's like that could actually hurt me." Ezra smirked.
"Ezra...” I nudged my best friend before he spills something to someone who's not an Immortali. "Lehi, I'll take it from here. Goodnight."
"Fine." he smiled at me then gave Ezra one more glare before going up to his room.
As soon as we heard that Lehi closed his bedroom door, Ezra pulled me to the dining room. He sat on the couch beside the window pulling me beside him. He studied my face first before he began questioning me.
"So, who's that guy?" he raised an eyebrow at me—he’s fond of doing that.
"That's Lehi, he's--"
"You're boyfriend?" he cut me off.
"No! He's my employee, the new photographer; remember the one that I told you about?"
"Oh, so he's the guy that looked straight into your eyes! Does being able to look straight into your eyes grants one to live with you?"
"I hired him as my driver that's why he's here. He needed the money so I hired him. I let him live here because I don't wanna be late waiting for a driver to arrive when I'm all set up."
"Well, okay." then he started laughing. I can see that he's trying so hard not to laugh to loud because a certain someone might hear us.
"Why are you laughing?"
"It's just that I find it funny because you're so repulsive to mortals, yet you're keeping one as a pet!"
"Hey...anyway, why are you here?" I asked, remembering that he didn't say why he dropped by without notifying me ahead.
"Nothing, I just want to remind you about a deal that you have to close with my business partner in Manila."
"I got that in my planner, don't worry."
"Let's go feed. There are a lot of people going crazy in the club right now. "
"I'll just change, give me 5 minutes."
----------
It was 6 am when I went to the kitchen with Ezra. Lehi was up early and preparing breakfast when we got there. The two of them got into an early stare-down until Ezra left with an apple. Lehi looked at me suspiciously as we ate.
"What?" I broke the silence.
"He stayed last night?" he asked.
"He did, and it's not like what you think it is." that lightened his expression.
I was enjoying the silence that's surrounding the house until Lehi jumped and almost cursed at the creature that walked by him. "What then?" he looked at me. I ignored him and picked up my cat and hugged her.
"That explains the cat food that I saw the other day." Lehi said.
"Yep, this is Liahona, the only soul that accompanies me when she feels like it. You won't see her too often, she likes to go out and explore." this made Lehi smile. "I hope you're not allergic."
"No, I'm not. She's beautiful."
"Yep, she is. She was a birthday present from a friend in Egypt."
