Mary's POV
It's been a week.
Only a week for my whole life to turn upside down.
Only a week until each of my friends left me.
Until I was forced to be homeschooled because I was being bullied at school.
I shut my eyes as the tears flow down and put my hand on my arm. Moving it up and down as the bumps of scars move along my fingertips.
The pain I caused with a razor made things worse. But I couldn't find the will to quit.
I remember the day after Kevin finished his massacre.
The stares everyone gave me.
But it's okay.
Because I deserve it.
I should have known that he was was mental.
But here's the thing.
I'm sure I knew.
I just didn't want to believe it.
My thoughts are disturbed by a doorbell and I sluggishly walk downstairs and open the door. Only to be surprised at who stood in front of me.
It was Kevin's mother, Eva.
I was so in shock that she came that I couldn't say anything. Good thing I didn't have to because she had something to say instead.
"Mary, sweetie. I know you don't want to see me here....but I have a favor to ask you.", she said.
"Of course not!", my mother yells.
I turn around, surprised because I didn't know she was there.
"Mom...", I say, but she ignores me.
"I'm sorry, Eva, but my daughter will not help you!", she says.
"What do you need?", I ask Eva kindly. Even after everything that happened. She was like a mother to me as well.
"Mary, I'm visiting Kevin. And I need answers. For the past few times, he's done nothing but stay quiet. And I'm hoping that....if you come....maybe he'll talk.", she says nervously.
"NO!", my mother explodes,"It's bad enough that my daughter was in a relationship with your demonic son. She will NOT visit him."
"Mother.", I say quietly,"I need answers as well."
She looks at me with shock written clearly across her face, but after she sees my pleading face, she reluctantly nods.
I give her a hug and follow Eva to the car.
The car ride is silent, but not awkward. But my heart begins to race as soon as we pull into the parking lot.
The wait is even more antagonizing.
But the worst
is when they call Eva's last name to call us in.
"Khatchadourian.", the speakers boom.
We both walk towards the door, led by two police men.
We see Kevin waiting, who looks surprised and impressed that I came; showing it off with his signature smirk.
I look away.
I hope this won't be as painful as I make it out to be.
