Mary's POV
I unlock the door to our house and walk in. This time, however, I don't immediately flop onto the bed to take a nap for the next hour or so. Work is becoming much less stressful. Maybe because I'm now finally realizing how I'm supposed to cope with it.
"Kevin?", I call out. There's no reply.
I look over at the clock, which reads 11: 45 pm. He must still be at work. Usually I'm home around 10pm, but I had to analyze the notes on my patients today.
Well, I might as well go see him.
I grab my coat again and walk out the door. After we got married, which was about a month ago now, we got a small house. It's not far from where I used to live in my apartment, so not much has changed in our enviornmental sense
The bar is a bit of a longer walk, so I take the bus rather than walk at this time of day. Thankfully it only takes about 5 minutes when you take the bus and the fare isn't that much either.
As soon as the bar is here, I give the busdriver some money and hop off. Even though they've seen me here before, I still have to show the bouncers my license to show that I am indeed the legal age for alcohol.
I walk in and notice that the bar is pretty crowded today as well. Wow, Kevin must be making a lot just from tips. You can tell just by looking at the size of the crowd.
I spot him mixing some drinks and as soon as he catches my eye, I wave him over.
"Hey, Kevin.", I meet his lips.
"Hey.", he says, continuing to mix the drink.
I smile,"Whatcha makin'?"
"Pina Colada.", he motions over his shoulder,"That guy has already had like 3."
"And you're giving him more??", I ask in disbelief.
He shrugs his shoulders,"He pays me, I give him booze. It's my job."
"Yeah, okay.", I laugh and roll my eyes,"So when's your shift over?"
"In about an hour.", he says.
My face falls,"Oh..."
He pours the drink into a cocktail glass and slides it over to the man who looks like he's drowning in the amount of alcohol being given to him. Just by looking at him, I can tell it's about his family.
"Is there something you wanted to do?", he raises an eyebrow suggestively, pulling me out of my analyzation.
I lean forward across the counter and whisper in his ear,"Let's go have fun..."
He smirks,"Alright. But we need to have fun my way, first."
Now it's my turn to raise an eyebrow,"What kind of fun."
"I'll show you.", he looks over his shoulder to make sure the cost was clear, and hops over the counter,"Come on."
"What?!", I say,"You said your shift isn't over."
He slips his arm across my waist and whispers in my ear,"shh....I'm not missing this."
Kevin leads me across the bar towards the back where there's an emergency exit. He pushes it opens and leads me outside.
"Wait.", I yank him to a hault,"Don't you want to tell someone your leaving so they can take your shift?"
He laughs,"No. They wouldn't let me leave then. Besides, we're gonna have some fun tonight."
"What kind of fun?", I ask again.
He puts his hands on my waist and presses his body against mine so that we're both leaning against the brick wall. He kisses me; deeply and passionately and I don't want him to stop. So when he pulls away, I want more than anything for him to lean back down.
