MARY'S POV

There he was. Standing in front of my very eyes; completely soaking wet. The droplets of rain slowly falling off his hair and streaming down his entire face. It looked like he was crying. But knowing Kevin, that would never ever happen.

"Mary-", he says as the sky brightens up again with a streak of lightning, only accompanied by the sound of thunder a few seconds later. But I quickly cut him off.

"No.", I close my eyes,"Y-you're not real. You're still in jail."

He doesn't say anything and after a few seconds, I hesitantly open my eyes. And sure enough, Kevin was not there.

After looking at the sky for a few more moments, I sigh and close the door.

"Mary."

I turn around with a jerk and my eyes wide; almost screaming when I see Kevin in the living room.

He walks closer to me,"Listen-"

"NO!", my voice began to rise with assertion,"No! You're not real! You can't be here! It's...it's impossible."

Before he has time to respond, I close my eyes again. Shutting them even tighter than usual to escape this vivid hallucination.

But this time when I open my eyes, the image of Kevin is still plastered onto my vision; with him looking at him with, something new, helplessness.

"Mary, please listen to me.", he starts to come closer, causing me to back up quickly in fright. Once he notices my unease, he immediately stays in place.

"Oh my god.", I whisper, blinking rapidly to make sure this isn't a cruel, cruel game that my brain is playing on my eyes.

After a few more seconds of silence, Kevin just sighs and immediately comes up to me and puts his hands on my shoulder,"Are you through with that little eye gimmick? I'm actually here, Mary. You just don't want to believe me."

I open my mouth to say something, but nothing come out. Instead, I just keep looking at him, trying to find something to prove that this is nothing more than just my imagination. But it's no use.

Because he really is there.

"Oh my...", I finally manage to get my voice back,"K...Kevin, how the heck did you..."

"There's no time for that.", he puts a finger to my lip before I can say any more,"All you need to know in this moment is that the cops will be here soon. And you need to tell them I'm not here."

"You...you escaped.", my entire stomach feels like it collapsed,"Kevin, I can't let you stay here. Not only because it's gonna send me to jail, for longer this time. But because you're just gonna extend your sentence."

"That's a risk I'm willing to take, sweetheart.", he softly smiles,"Besides, you want to know more answers. Why I left. Why I came here. I know you do. But this is going to be the first place they check. That's why you need to act like you have no idea that I even left. They won't suspect you."

I quickly shake my head,"No-oo, I can't. No more of this. I'm done with all of this."

"Then you're done with me.", he leans in closer, meeting me eye to eye,"And you've found your closure, I presume."

I stare at him, mouth agape. Is he really manipulating me right now?

"I thought not.", he smirked.

Yes. Yes he is.

I open my mouth again to say something, but a very loud knocking interrupts me and causes me to jump. Oh my god, I had no idea how quickly this would all be happening.
