Mary's POV

The flame started small. Like a small speck and for a second, a sense of relief hit me because I thought that there wasn't enough fuel.

But of course if I'm married to Kevin, that means that things will usually take a sharp turn for the worst.

After a moment, the flame slowly started spreading, bright red, orange and even blue. It started spreading faster and faster and faster until it was covering half of the building.

"Kevin!", I forced myself up off the ground and I ran towards him,"What the FUCK is wrong with you?!!!! Too far! This is too far now!"

Kevin quickly turned around, his eyes wide in shock. "Mary!", he suddenly came running towards me,"Get away!"

But I was frozen in my steps, the realization that this was actually happening is still freshly printed into my mind.

When Kevin saw that I wasn't moving, he ran even faster and put an arm around my waist, as he yanked me along with him. It was enough of a shock to get me moving again.

He pulls me behind a tree and after literally 1 second, I hear a large, thundering sound causing me to bury my head in his chest and scream.

The fire. It must have hit a gas tank. Even if the building was abandoned, gas tanks are and always will be dangerous. No matter how old they are.

I stayed in his arms for several more seconds and shut my eyes.

This is just a dream.

A terrible nightmare that will diminish as soon as I open my eyes.

Hesitantly, I open my eyes, but find myself still in his arms. And the air is becoming more hot.

I push myself away from him and grab his hand to pull him away from the tree. The explosion caused the fire to spread to a tree right next to us.

In fact the fire spread to a few other trees, as well as a small patch of grass near the parking lot.

This time when I meet his eyes, I didn't say anything. I just looked at him and let go of his hand. Eventually, I look down and shake my head.

"How did you know I was here.", he didn't bother wasting time with an apology. Probably because he knew it wouldn't have any effect on me, so he just got straight to the point.

"Call it a hunch...", I whispered,"....Kevin, I-"

A loud siren fills the air, causing both of us to look to the right in shock. Blue and white flashes of light filled the streets as well as the orange lights from the firetruck.

Neither of us move. It's no use. If anything, it would make the situation 10 times worse. Even when he went on his massacre, Kevin didn't resist arrest. He surrendered calmly because he succeeded in his mission. It's the same with this. He wanted to commit arson. So that's what he did. Now he'll face whatever consequences it comes with.

The police begin to file out of the cars and raised their guns and aimed it at the both of us,"Put your hands above your heads!!"

We both comply with their orders.

My eyes widened.

Wait.

I'm here...that means I'm being arrested as well. Right now they don't know anything. But they must be suspicious that I'm either the mastermind or the accomplice.

Two of the police officers came toward us and pulled our arms behind our backs. Very roughly if I might add. The one who pushed me toward the car read my my Miranda Rights and slammed me against the hood of the car to fasten my hand-cuffs.
