~Chapter Ten~

It had been about 2 days. I am currently walking with Daryl and Theo. Theo is good at hunting, and so is Daryl. We were heading towards the woods to go hunting. We all had bows; Daryl was the only one with a crossbow. Theo had a hand-made one and he also made me one. We were getting close towards the entrance.

"I'll make sure Mist is safe." I heard Theo say.

"She will be. You go a different way, we'll get more meat." Daryl said, giving a death stare to him.

We had become pretty good friends since day one. We had a lot in common.

"Fine. Be careful you guys." Theo said and entered the woods. Daryl came over to me.

"Stay away from him." He said.

This shocked me.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"He's bad news." He replied.

"Oh, and you're not? You can't pick and choose my friends, you aren't my dad."

"Excuse me?"

"Just shut up. You can't stop me from being his friend." I said.

"What happened to Carl? Why can't you guys date?"

"Seriously? I'm not dating anyone! And he is two years older than me!"

"You like Theo."

"Is that what you think?"

"That's what I know."

"You don't know nothin'."

And with that I walked away from the woods and back towards the house. I had enough of him.

"Mist. Mist!" He called after to me.

I was livid. I walked into the house and went upstairs to my 'room.' I shared it with Beth. She was in there.

"Hey, what's up? I thought you were going hunting?" She asked.

"I was until Daryl started being a little butt." I said.

"What did he do?"

"Said I couldn't be friends with Theo."

"Why? I think he is a cool kid, and you two would make a cute couple."

"Said he was 'bad news'."

"Well, I think you should listen to Daryl on everything, but this, on this, he is wrong. He just knows you'll end up dating and he doesn't want another man to be the 'main man' in your life. He thinks of you as a daughter and I know you think of him as a dad. Follow your heart."

I nodded my head.

"Maybe I should apologize to him." I said quietly.

"Maybe." She said smiling.

I walked out of the house and bumped into Daryl.

"Mist listen—" I cut him off.

"Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have over reacted. I'm telling you, Theo isn't bad news. Whatever happens, you'll still be my...dad. You'll still be the one who saved my life countless time, you'll still be my hero." I said.

He looked at me and smiled.

"He likes you." He said finally.

"What?" I asked.

"Theo. He likes you." He replied.

I just walked away. I ran across Rick.

"Hey, Mist. Would you like to go on a run with Theo and Maggie tomorrow?" He asked.

"Sure." I said.

"Ok cool. They leave around noon." He replied.

"Ok." I said and started walking towards the barn. They had pigs, goats, horses, cow, sheep, and chickens. I decided to climb the hay and sit on the roof. You could see over the woods. I saw movement in the bushes and someone step out. Theo. He started jogging towards the house, hauling a deer behind him. I smiled knowing me would have fresh meat for dinner tonight. I climbed down and ran up to him. He had already gotten the deer into the shack.

"Hey what's up Mist?" He asked.

"Nothing." I said.

I looked behind me seeing Daryl; he just smiled and nodded his head.

"I wanted to ask you something." I said.

"Me to." He responded.

"We'll say it at the same time." I replied.

"1, 2, 3."

"Will you go out with me?" We both asked.

I smiled. This was happening.

"Yes." We answered at the same time.

He leant in and and placed his soft lips on my cheek. It made me feel like everything would be ok. Everything will be ok in the end, and if it's not ok, then it's not the end. We heard a commotion of hoots and hollers. I whipped my head around and saw everyone had gather. Everyone.

"Seriously?" I asked.

They all just laughed. I felt Theo put his arm around my waist.

"It's official." He said.

Everyone started clapping. I rolled my eyes and left Theo's side accidently running into Carl.

"Hey. He hurts you, I'll kill him, just tell me ok? I think of you as my little sister." He said.

"You're only two years older than me." I responded.

"Just tell me if anything happens ok?"

I nodded my head. I walked up the stairs to my room. Beth was already in it. She spent most time in there.

"I'm happy for you." She said.

"Thanks, what's the matter?" I asked.

Something was wrong with her.

"Well, you see, me and Carl are the same age, and we've been dating for a while, but i can't help but to feel like something bad is going to happen soon..." She said.

"You gotta do what you gotta do, but remember, this world could kill you, at any given time. It will be okay. Bad times are just times that are bad.." I said.

She nodded and we walked out.

We walked downstairs to everyone gathering around the table.

I went over to Beth and Carl and they were hugging. We chatted for a while before Beth and Carl moved away a bit and started kissing. I suddenly felt arms wrap around my waist and mouth.

"That's sweet, now everyone put their weapons down in front of me, or this girl here, get's killed." Someone said behind me I struggled against him, but got nowhere.

"DON'T YOU HURT HER!" I heard Theo yell.

"LET HER GO!" Daryl added.

I was scared. I couldn't let it show though, so I didn't cry. I watched as everyone put down their weapons.

"Please don't hurt her." Maggie said.

After everyone was done, they watched with caution.

"Now, this wouldn't be a proper hit and run, if nobody died, right?" The man asked. "Who would you like to go?" He asked me.

I looked at everyone and made my choice.

"Me."
