Chapter 50- A Funeral

Gabby's pov- Today is the day. The day of Poppy's funeral. Matt and I got all three kids ready and we got ready to. Matt was going to speak since Poppy was Matt's relative, not mine by blood.
Jackson held Anna's hand, I held Juliet's tiny hand, and Matt held my other hand.
Soon, the procession started. Once we got down there, everyone sat down. There was some of Poppy's favorite music in the background. This isn't going to be easy.
It was time for Mimi to speak. "Harold(random name) was not only my husband, but he was my best friend. He was so amazing to everyone in our family. Especially Matt, Gabby, and their kids, Jackson, Annabel, and Juliet. Gabby and her partner were the ones who responded to the call. They did everything they could and I want to thank them for that. I will always miss and love Harold."
I was in tears at that point. I tried to stay strong for the kids, but it didn't work. I looked over at Matt and Jackson. Matt was almost in tears and Jackson was trying to stay strong for his little sisters.
Matt walked up to the podium and began his speech. "Harold was known as 'Poppy' around our house. I called him Poppy, and now my kids call him that. He was a kind, loving, gentle man. Poppy was always there when either I or my family needed him. So was Mimi. The day that I heard that Poppy was in the hospital, I went right when I had a chance and stayed with him until I had to return home. And the day they took him off life support was one of the worst days of my life. Poppy will always be remembered and he will always be loved by everyone." Once he finished his speech, he walked back to me in tears. By now, Jackson was in tears. Anna and Juliet didn't really understand what was happening. All they knew was Poppy had died a few days before this.
We watched as they buried Poppy. We talked to people and then left. The car ride home was silent.
