Terrance pulled up outside his mothers house and I pulled up behind him. His mother lived in a two storey house in Trincity. The house had champagne coloured walls with dark gray pillars. There was a silver Almera in the parkway and a black cube. The gate was shorter than me and black. The fence was concrete and painted in the same champagne colour. He got out of the vehicle and I followed him, coming out of my car.

He opened the gate and I grabbed my shoulder bag and slung it over my shoulder. I walked towards him just as he opened the front door.

"Upstairs, third door on the left." He said and turned. I looked at the hallway. It was a off white hall with pictures along the walls and I walked towards the stairs which were not in sight. After about twenty steps, the first doorway opened. I peered inside and saw a family room. It had two large three seater couches, a love seat and a play pen in the corner. There was a wooden shelving thing that housed DVDs, a cable box and games it looked like. But there was no TV anywhere close. I continued walking and peered into the other room which housed the kitchen. I continued walking and peered into the space to my right and saw the stairway that broke off into two platforms. I walked towards it and went up the stairs.

Third door on the left.

I passed the first door, second door and on the third door I stopped. I opened the door and peered inside. The room was not what I expected. Hell, I didn't know what I expected.

The room had a queen sized bed pushed against the wall and a window almost directly opposite the door. On the right side of the bed had a bedside table and on the table had a book left open with its front faced down. There was another door adjacent to the bed and a wardrobe assembly on the wall with the second door. The room itself was a dark purple colour and I walked in. On the wall next to the door had a bookshelf and on the other side had a desk with a laptop closed down and an office chair in the space in the desk.

Close to the window was a day bed and above the day bed was an air condition unit. I placed my bag at the foot of the bed and peered out the window. The window overlooked the side back of the house which had two fruit trees and an above the ground family pool.

"What do you think?" Terrance asked coming into the room and I looked back at him.

"It's fine." He raised his eyebrow and placed two of the plastic bags on the ground.

"There is an empty rack. You can put anything you want there." He said then turned to go back down the stairs. I made my way to the bag and stooped with much effort and opened up the bag. It was the bag with the dresses and I rolled my eyes. I began pulling dresses out and placing them on the bed.

I didn't know how long I was up there sorting through my clothes but after Terrance brought my last two suitcase up and went on his way I didn't see another soul and I didn't mind. He had brought all the hangers down and said he would put them up, he also told me I could put my clothes on the day bed but I refused. I would be spending a lot of time on that bed. So instead, I had emptied my suitcase on the bed and packed them back into respective places, colour coded and type organised. My toiletries were on the floor beside me, not having a home just yet.

The door opened and I looked up. A man with his hair in single plaits stared down at me. He was tall, probably the same height as Terrance, with brown eyes and chocolate coloured skin. He wasn't built, he didn't look remotely close to muscular.

"Who are you?" He asked in disgust.

"I-I'm Terrance's fiancée." I said and looked up at him.

"Terrance's what? Are you kidding me?" He asked in astonishment. I blinked at him in shock. Had Terrance not told anyone about the engagement? After all it was only a day.

"No." He stared me down then let out a laugh.

"You, miss prim and proper, is engaged to Terrance." He laughed. He mocked my posture assuming I was stush when in fact I was only 'prim and proper' because of this fucking brace. I scratched my thigh, relishing in the relief it bought and looked back at the bed.

He continued laughing, he must not have known I was ignoring him but I was. His presence was a nuisance and it angered me. My thigh scratched.

"Malique, what are you doing?" A female voice asked and came to stand next to the nuisance of a man. "Who are you?"

"That's Terrance's fiancée." The one called Malique laughed. I turned to look at the girl and her face had a wide grin. She was caramel coloured, with bright brown eyes, jerry curled brown hair, a round face and bright red lips. She looked about my height, maybe taller and her cheek was indented with dimples.

"I'm April, Terrance's half sister. I helped him pick out the ring." She beamed and came to sit next to me. "Do you like it?" I glanced down at my finger and nodded. The ring was very beautiful. "Oh, do you speak English?" My eyes widened.

"Of course she does. How do you think I found out who she was." Malique said and I rolled my eyes at him and looked back at April.

"Oh begone you ape. Your presence is not required." She said to him and he laughed. I heard the door close and I turned back to my clothes. "So, what's your name?"

"Gwyndolyn."

"Oh what a pretty name. How long have you and Terrance known each other?" I didn't know how to answer that. But thankfully, I didn't have to.

"April, what are you doing?" Terrance asked coming in the room. He looked at me and frowned. "Have you been sitting there all this time?" He asked and I blinked.

"Yes." I said and I felt April's eyes on me.

"That's not good for you. Let me help you up." He came forward and hooked his arms below my armpits and with little effort lifted me unto my feet. April stared at me, at the same time Terrance dusted off the back of my skirt.

"Wow, your hips are. Wow." She said and I glared at her. She was obviously oblivious to my glare because she kept on staring. "Terrance I didn't know you liked wide hips." My back stiffened and Terrance placed a hand on my hip and brought his head down to my neck.

"More of her to love." Was his reply and April let out a squeal.

"You guys are too cute. Gwyndolyn do you want to help with dinner?" April asked standing from the ground.

"Um, n-not really." I said and it felt odd again.

"Oh, well dinner would be ready in about an hour. Meet you down there." She said and turned to leave. When she closed the door behind her I stepped away from Terrance and turned to look at him. His eyes were on my hips.

"Stop staring at them." I said and hissed.

"How are your ribs?" He asked and I frowned.

"They are fine." I said.

"Ready to meet the in-laws?"
