Matthew walked into the room and Terrance fixed him with a glare.
"Can I speak to my sister alone." He wasn't asking. Terrance didn't back down, he just glared down at Matthew.
"Yeah, well talk. I don't trust you people with my fiancée."
"I'm her brother, I'm not going to hurt her." Matthew said through clenched teeth.
"That changes nothing." Terrance hissed.
"Gwyn I want to talk to you." He turned to me.
"Well talk." I didn't have the strength for otherwise. His jaw tensed then he looked past me and then back at me.
"Why didn't you tell me?" That was his starting game. What a low fucking blow.
"Tell you what?" He was never around. He barely answered my calls and he was always busy. How could I tell him anything.
"That he hit you. That you're getting married. That you screwed Nikolai." He said in haste and my blood boiled over. Boiled and over boiled until I began evaporating. I was so hot.
"Of course he fucking hit me. Why would he not hit me. If you were around for more than a day, then, maybe then you would see the situations that I get put in. As for Nikolai, if he told you that he popped my cherry, he lied to you. There was no fucking. If you asked me, you would have known, if you came home, you would have know." It was a breath. Wow! This morphine was good stuff.
"Gwyn that's not what it's like. You know how the base is and things are different because of Marina but you know I'll always be here for you." He moved a step closer to me and Terrance moved a step closer to him.
"You remember what you said to me when you found out you were in?"
"That doesn't matter G." He stopped. His words unsure.
"Matthew, you said to me that there would come a time when you'd move on and I would need to stop depending on you. That no matter how close we were there would always be some type of distance." I paused letting my words sink in. "And you created that fucking crater and pushed me off the end of the precipist. I don't expect you to stick around especially since Marina is pregnant with your child, so just go. Leave. Au revivor."
"You're picking a fucking stranger over me. Over me Gwyn, your brother." He said in complete disbelief.
"What is it you always say? Never judge a person by his cover." I looked at him and he stared at me.
"Gwyn, don't be like that. You aren't listening." He took a step closer. I wasn't listening. I wasn't listening. This boy was stupid for obvious reasons.
"Fuck you." I turned my head away from him.
"I guess when you live with a demon, you become a demon. Guess you were meant for this life after all." He snapped and I didn't turn to see him depart, but the closing of the door announced his departure.
I wanted to scream. The splint was stopping me from slouching forward and hitting at my leg. I scratched at my foot. Careful not to scratch my secret spot, but I scratched my thigh instead.
"He's an ass. An absolute cunt. Screw him." I said as I scratched my skin. I must have looked like a heroine addict, furiously itching my skin.
"Lyn." I stopped. I looked up at my father and my face blanked. My mind reeled at his voice and my leg itched.
"Dad." It was simple. The way we communicated whenever we saw each other.
"You are coming home with me." Yes was on my tongue. The word was on the verge of breaking out of my mouth, escaping the organ that was my tongue and I held it in. Not this time.
"N-no." The word seemed forced out of my throat. So different to what I was used to saying to this man.
"No?" He asked shocked for a second. He looked at me, his eyes clouded with anger and he snarled. "What did you say Lyn?" He asked angrily.
"I said no. I'm not going with you." He took a step toward me and Terrance put a hand out in front of him to stop him.
"That's close enough Kevin." My father glanced at Terrance and I stared at him.
"You think because you're getting married you can make right choices." He snapped at me and I stared at him passively. "It's me who got you here you bitch." He hissed at me.
"I'm a grown woman, I could do as I please." It was a hiss. I hissed at him and he stared at me in shock. "And I choose to move in with Terrance."
"You want to move out, fine. But don't you dare bringing your sorry ass to my house when he leaves you." He hissed and turned to leave but stopped and turned back to look at me. "You really are stupid." He shook his head.
"What?" I asked and scrunched up my eyebrows at him.
"You forgetting that your fiancé was staying in our house." He threw back his head and let out a laugh.
"I could provide for my fiancée." Terrance hissed at him and the two stared each other off.
"Happy life you bitch." He hissed and I couldn't help the retort.
"I am my father's child." He glared at me and slammed the door upon leaving. I let out a breath. Wow. I was on fire today. On fire and burning. My leg itched like crazy and I was forced to knock my hands on my thigh.
"If I can get you dispersed now, we'll go look at a house." Terrance said and looked at me. I nodded, my mind otherwise occupied by the itch. "Is your leg okay?" He asked and I looked up at him.
"Yes." It came out as a snap but he ignored my tone. He turned and walked out the room and closed the door behind him.
My words to my father played over in my head. Was I really like him? Was that why I had now lost my brother and my best friend all in one go because I was 'My fathers child'?
