**Alex's POV**
We had dinner in the slave quarters down stairs, where I was sure that I was about to be moved to. It was cold and dark. Hundreds of girls were down here in what I would call the salve's common room. The air was musty and unhealthy to breathe in.
I sat of the freezing cement floor next to Emily, and too slaves that had been taken from camp and turned into kitchen workers. I recognized one as Melissa Fields. Melissa was a grade above me, she was one of the most popular people in my school.
Melissa was skinny with dark hair. Melissa always had an innocent thing about her, but she had turned out to be one of the worst kids in school. She was mean and deceitful.
I though of her lashing out at kids in school and then looked at her crying beside me. I was torn between ignoring her and comforting her, I chose the first.
I looked over at the other girl who I didn't know. She looked younger than me, she was blond with freckels, and she had bruises on both sides of her face. She must have fought back.
I found that her names was Savannah and that she had went to a Christian School in my town. She cried when she told me about her school and her family. She eventually curled up and whispered "This is a dream," over and over to herself.
Emily didn't offer up any information about her self, but she asked plenty of questions about me. I didn't answer any questions but later that night I knew that I would cry thinking about Lana and Seth who I might never see again.
I held myself together and leaned my head against the cold wall.
Suddenly everything was quiet, and I heard people scuttling to stand. Emily grabbed my arm and yanked me to my feet. My eye snapped open and I saw a very angry King in the room. The Kings eyes traveled around the room as everyone curtsied. All of the new girls followed in the lead of the older girls. Everyone crowded against the wall leaving a wide space in the front of the room where the King stood.
Suddenly the King's eyes locked on Emily. The King moved swiftly towards her, grabbing Emily and flinging her in front of everyone.
Emily coward in front of everyone, not bothering to get off of the floor.
"Were you cleaning my chambers today," bellowed the King to Emily.
"Yes," she answered not daring to look at the King. I clung to the girl next to me.
"Yes WHO," screamed the King, kicking Emily in the stomach. Emily let out a blood churning scream, curling her body in a way to protect herself. She was crying hysterically.
"Yes, my King," she choked out.
"Did you touch the things on my desk," asked the King. My blood suddenly ran cold.
"N... No, my King," she said.
"Then who did," he asked sternly.
"I-It was h-her," she yelled pointing in my direction.
I froze as the King glanced in my directions. He looked at the group of us, until we locked eyes, and his angry look turned into a grin.
"Come here," he said, looking at me.
The girls around me all backed away from me, and I slowly moved towards the King, about to burst into tears.
"HERE, NOW," he screamed.
I stood 3 feet away from him, not daring to look up. I didn't know what I was in for, but I knew it was going to be bad.
"Look at me," the King commanded. I looked up. His eyes conveyed amusement for a second before turning blank.
The King snapped, and a guard that I knew walked it. It was Matt. The King whispered something in his ear, before Matt left the room.
Soon Matt came in with another guard. Matt held a thin, long metal box. The other guard pushed a big metal square on wheels. The metal square was black and had a platform near the bottom, it had weird hand cuff things near each corner.
I shook and backed away from the metal square and the guard placed it against the back wall. The guard turned and looked at me. We made eye contact and it turned out to be Jace.
We made eye contact asking him to help me. He knew what was happening, and we wasn't going to do anything.
The girls in the room were all scared for me. I looked at the King who was opening the metal box that Matt had.
Matt looked at me, a grin on his face.
"Strap her up," the King told Jace.
Jace started to walk towards me, and I backed up into the corner of the room, where all the girls moved away from me
"Please," he whispered, "Don't make this harder on yourself."
"Don't touch me," I whispered to him.
Jace reached out, and grabbed a fistful of my hair, forcing me over to the metal square. I cried out as he pulled my hair, trying to kick him.
"Stop," he commanded in my ear.
I didn't. Jace pushed me up on the platform, strapping my wrists and ankles to the square. My face was pressed sideways against the metal awkwardly and my backside was exposed to the King who was laughing at me.
I struggled against the rope cuff, but they were tight. My line of sight was limited, but I could see the look of shame on Jace's face.
I was determined to punch the kid who told me that he was going to help me.
I heard footsteps coming towards me. I felt the whip trailing along my back. The King was teasing me.
Suddenly I could feel the King's breath on my ear, "This might hurt."
I knew that it would hurt, I was barley better from the last time.
The King walked away, and I steadied myself.
I heard the oof, and then I felt the pain.
