Chapter Twenty Seven

**Alex's POV** 

I woke up to the sound of a door closing. I groaned and got out of bed, moaning in pain. I still had my own room away from the slave quarters which surprised me. 

On my dresser was four pill bottles and a sheet of instructions. I thanked Landon in my head, and got dressed. Everything hurt my back.

I slowly walked to the common room downstairs, looking for food. There were over 20 girls crowded in the room. I took a piece of bread from Emily.

"Are you okay," she asked quietly.

"I think so," I said.

"I'm sorry," she said, looking ashamed.

"For what," I asked.

"Ratting you out."

"It's okay, I touched his desk, and I wouldn't want you to pay for what I did."

She nodded, and we both starting to walk down to the King's room. 

"We forgot his breakfast," said Emily as we got to the bottom of the steps leading to the Kings chambers.

"It's okay," I said, "I'll go get it."

"Okay," said Emily, "Just go to the cooks." 

I nodded, and started walking slowly towards the kitchen. The pills I had taken this morning were starting to help my back loosen up.

I got the King's food, and I walked back up to his chambers. I opened the door and walked in. When I walked in the King was in the room, sitting in a chair. I didn't expect him to be there, which was stupid because I was bringing him food.

"Hello, King," I said, curtsying, through the pain in my back. I scurried to set the tray of food on the little table in front of him.

The King looked at me, "You didn't knock."

"Excuse me?"

"You must knock before you enter," he said, "This is my room!"

"I-I'm sorry," I said.

"You better not make that mistake again!"

"I won't," I said, "I promise."

"Good." He said, "Now clean."
