Chapter 27: Motives

"I-ikaw?!"

"Hi Zafrina.." ngumiti ito ng malimit.

"Zander..."

Siya ang client namin?! Seriously?!

"Long time no see." Sabi niya at lumapit para umupo sa tabi namin ni Henry.

Bahagya parin akong gulat kaya hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin ko. Matagal na kaming hindi nagkita. College pa yun.

"You must bs shock Zafrina. Dont be." Medyo natatawa niyamg sabi. Napangiti na lang ako.

Kahit si Zander lang tong kaharap ko kinakabahan pa rin ako. Well, you all know the history. He is his bestfriend.

Its been 4 years. Wala na akong balita sakanya since i went to New York. Binaon kona siya sa pinakailalim ng utak at puso ko. But now that im sitting next tohis bestfriend parang bumabalik ang lahat.

Alam ba niyang bumalik na ako?

"Miss Rina??"

Nagising lang ako sa tawag ni Henry. Napatango ako at nakitang pareho silang nakatingin sakin.

"Uhm s-sorry." Yun lang ang nasagot ko.

"I guess ill be the one to order." Sabi ni Zanded at tinawag ang isang waiter.

Habang naghihintay ng pagkain hindi ko mapigilang kabahan. Hindi ako mapakali.

"So how are you Zafrina? 4 years since the last time we saw each other." Umpisa ni Zander.

"Well, im good. As you can see i didnt pursue my degree and be what i am now." I said.

"I see, sayang youre a Cum Laude but you chose to switch career."

"I guess its really not meant for me." I just said.

"Really? I thought because youre just running away from something." He blurted.

I cant blame him to think that way. He knows everything about what happened this past 4 years. And about what he is talking about. Siguro sa tingin niya kaya ako nagpalit ng career because if i pursue being a foreign service hindi ako makakawala kay Jasper. They own the biggest airline and Foreign Embassies world wide kaya magkakaroon siya ng koneksyon sakin. But its not my reason. Since im a kid i love designing.

Hindi na lang ako nagsalita until our fodd arrived. We ate in silence and finish the main course without no one talking. Even Henry who is just holding his phone when not eating.

We started to talk about the business while having tea and some blueberry cheesecakes.

"So as you can see our preview line always tops the runways and the billboards. We have more endorsements and magazines feature than Mcqueens and Valentino. To the top all of it, Roberto Cavalli Collections never get out of trend. Even the oldest line of our clothes still catch people's attention in an out of season coutures." I said while he is checking our sketches that i think will be great in the campaign.

"As you can see, othe designs we chose were the classics but we added a little bit posch on its details. All the fabrics whee made in Milan. A bit expensive but it hits perfectly. Your invesment wont be a waste."

After my introduction be closed the look book and put it on the table. I slightly got confuse.

"I actually dont care about the informations. We already have researchs about your works."

"So, what are the other problems we should discuss or maybe you have some complains. We can work on it immediately." I said.

"Cmon Zaf, take it slow. The campaign will be next month. You still have a lot if time for that." Sabi niya.

"I know Zander but as you can see i work fast. I want to finish everything without errors. It means everything shoukd be perfect that is why im starting it this early."

"Okay. I never thought perfection was your middle name." He said and laugh a little.

"Well, ive been through a lot of mistakes in the past and now im trying not to apply it especially in my work."

"Maybe you should say it on his face not on me." He blurted.

"Excuse me?"

Pinaglalaruan ba ako ng lalaking to?

"Nothing. Lets just talk about the photoshoot since it is more important. Its the one who will introduce your works across Asia." He said.

I cleared my throat and sip a little tea. This is so stressful!

"As the proposal said the owner/ CEO will be the one who will be modelling the clothes for the photoshoot. I guess youll be prepared for that."

"Oh no Zafrina. Its not me."

"Pardon?"

What is he saying na hindi siya ang CEO?

"I mean im the CEO but as you can see im not the only person who is investing on this."

"So, youre saying...".

"May kasama ako sa photoshoot. The other investors. And also im requesting you to contact a photographer. I want her to be the one who will take our photos. I hope it wont mind?"

"Ofcourse not."

I immediately listed all the this we talked about especially the photographer he is talking about. I wonder who is she? I guess magaling talaga siya kaya kailangang dapat siya ang kumuha ng mga pictures.

"So you will add something?" I asked.

"Oh yes. I already requested that the photoshoot will be rescheduled."

"It will be next week."

Agad akong natigil sa pagsusulat.

"What? Next week?!"

"Is there a problem with that?"

"Yes. Zander sa proposal it will be after the ad campaign which will be in a few weeks."

"I changed it. Mas maganda if the photoshoot will be the first one. Introduce it to the people where theyll be curious of the line. It will make the campaign trend with some mystery."

"But Zander the clothing line is still not yet finished. That will cost a lot of time to be finish on the date you want. This is absurd!"

"Well ikaw na mismo ang nagsabi that tou work early to get perfection. Now im ordering you to have perfection." Sabi niya at biglang tumayo.

"Wait Zander! This is so ridiculous!" I hissed.

"Do it. Im expecting a lot from you Zafrina." Then he left with Henry.

Wala na akong nagawa but to curse him in my mind.

May mali sa mga nangyayari eh! I can feel it.

What is your motive Zander?
