Chapter Fourteen
"SEVERUS SNAPE, YOU OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW!" Narcissa screamed as she pounded on the heavy, mahogany door. Lucius stood behind her, a rather perturbed expression on his face, as if he wanted to be anywhere else. Probably in Destiny's arms. He sighed exasperatedly as he rubbed his eyes. She turned round and fixed him with a stealy stare that usually would have shut him up in an instant. But he was feeling foolishly brave as he strode towards her and gripped her softly by the arms. Trying to lead her away from the door seemed futile as she stood her ground and scowled at him, visibly shaking with anger. Turning, she resumed a bout of furious knocking, causing Lucius to roll his eyes impatiently.
"Narcissa, just leave it-" He began, being silenced, when a loud clicking noise signified that Severus had decided to come out of his sombre recluse. Narcissa stumbled into the room, nose held high in the air and a look of pure fury on her face. Lucius, meanwhile, looked nonplussed and somewhat bored.
"What do you want you insufferable banshee?" Severus snapped, skillfully slipping the empty bottle of firewhisky under the desk with the rest of his already vast collection.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER?" Narcissa screamed, placing her hands on the desk and leaning over Severus as he sat bolt upright in his high backed chair.
"I don't know what you are talking about Narcissa." He drawled emotionlessly, struggling not to slur his words.
"What-" She spat. "Have.You.Done.To.Florence." She pulled back, lip curled with disgust as a hint of a frown played across Severus' lips. It took him a while to process what she was saying, his head was so fogged up with alcohol.
"I haven't done anything to that girl." He hissed, feeling with every word his head become heavier and heavier, and his stomach lurch ever so slightly.
"Explain this then!" Narcissa screeched, throwing a scrap of paper at him that continued to float gracefully onto the desk. His fingers scrabbled across the surface as he brought the note towards him and inspected the neat, printed writing. He glanced up from the small sheet of writing and narrowed his eyes.
"She's gone." He said simply, placing the parchment back onto the desk as he rested his hands in his lap.
"I know she's gone!" Narcissa hissed, scowling profusely as her black stilettos rapped noisily on the stone tiles. "But why?" Severus quirked and eyebrow.
"And you came to me, why?" He asked innocently. "I mean, I haven't a clue what goes on in that woman's head." He smirked.
"I don't think even she has, you've messed with it too much!" Narcissa snapped and he chuckled darkly.
"Surely you mean she's messed with mine too much? For some reason I'm finding it hard to think straight."
"Well maybe if you weren't such a git and confessed that you had feelings for her, neither of you would be in this mess!" She shrieked before clamping a hand tightly over her mouth as her eyes brimmed with tears.
"What did you say?" He asked incredulously. Narcissa stumbled backwards slightly as he rose to his full height, practically fuming with anger. "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" Lucius put a hand protectively on her arm as he stood between them.
"You heard what she said Severus. We've all noticed what goes on between the two of you, how could we not?" He snapped and Severus scared scrutinizingly at him.
"What do you mean?" He hissed and Lucius smirked.
"Remember mine and Narcissa's wedding?"

Filius Flitwick tapped his conductors baton on the top of the stand, which was more difficult as it sounded because he was already precariously balanced on top of a dining chair. A swelling waltz drifted from the charmed instruments and began to waft enticingly throughout the room, drifting between the now slow dancing couples.
