It was finally here. Damian Wayne was finally thirteen. A teenager. It was a big deal. Well it was to everyone other than Damian. Damian had never celebrated a birthday in his life and thought it was rather stupid to celebrate such an occasion. But if your brother is Dick Grayson? Run.

Bruce, Alfred, Dick, Jason, Tim, Stephanie and Cassandra all stood on the fair grounds. Dick insisted Bruce went all out for his brother's big day. Bruce got clowns, the circus, the Zoo and a guest list of over two hundred super heroes. They all waited. Everyone except Bruce's dressed casually.
"I'm going to go get little D, be back in five" Dick smiles before walking off in the direction of Wayne Manor.  Jason takes a smoke and lighter from his pocket and begins to light it when Tim takes it out of his mouth and stomps it out on the ground.
"No Jason, kids are coming"
Jason grumbles and walks off, taking a swig of his beer. Stephanie and Tim walk hand in hand around and Cass and Bruce watches everyone go with amusement.

Dick had finally gotten to Wayne manor and knocked softly on Damian's door. He couldn't fight the huge shit eating grin of his face.
"Happy birthday Little D!"
There was shuffling behind the door before a voice called out.
"Get out Grayson. I'm not going to a child's party"
"It's not a 'child's' party. It's your party"
Damian replied with a scoff. Dick slid down the wall until he was sitting down with his head against the wall.
"Come on Little D, everyone's coming for your big day"

There was no reply.
"Iris, Jai, Collin and the rest of the gang will be there"
"They aren't my friends"
Dick glared.
"Of course they are"
"No they aren't." In a low whisper Damian said "I don't have any."
Dick's heart sunk. He looked at the door with sadness. "I'm your friend"
"No you're an orphan my father adopted"
Angry and annoyed that Damian was being a brat Dick snapped back,
"I'd give anything to spend a birthday with my parents or family but I don't have that. Jason, Tim, Steph, Cass.. Me. We all are family weather you like it or not because we're Bruce's family and I'll be damned if I'm going to stand here and let you say that that man out there is any less my dad than he is yours"
Dick stormed off but called out over his shoulder.
"Enjoy your birthday.. Alone"

Damian hadn't meant to piss Dick off so much. He sat on his bed and felt a weight against his shoulders. He hated it here. He hated his 'brothers' and 'sister'. He hated his distant father. Hated the fact that he didn't belong in a place where he should fit in the most. He hated missing his mother. Hated how he feels a need to hold a sword in his grip and just bring down his wrath. But most of all, he hated how he chose justice over vengeance.

Bruce and the Bat clan looked up at a sad Dick. Dick shook his head and they all became sad. The fair grounds were packed with guests. Bruce grabbed a microphone and began to speak to the large crowd.
"It appears Damian won't be joining us in this celebration but enjoy and stay as long as you wish"
And with that, Bruce made his way to leave when a voice called out,
"Last person to beat the Joker piñata is a dead Robin!"
Everyone turned to see Damian. He was dressed casually and ran over to a Joker piñata and slammed his sword into it. The Super hero kids all raced to get the treats that was coming and Bruce smiled.

"Looks like he showed up"
That day Dick, Jason, Tim, Steph, Cass and Damian all bounced in the bouncy castle trying to bounce higher than the other and showing off. It was the best birthday Damian would ever have and that's when he understood the value of having a birthday party.
