A knock had Maine Mendoza turning to the door of her classroom. She was busy tidying up the toys they used earlier at the back of the room. Her smile was automatic upon seeing her visitor. Black gelled hair, dressed in a crisp white dress shirt, pale pink tie, grey suit and leather shoes, Alden Richards looked like he stepped right out of the pages of a GQ magazine. His height and built could have him mistaken for a model while his clean shaven face, easy smile and dimple gave him the boy next door charm. His eyes were her favorite though. Deep pools of melted dark chocolate that can look into her soul. Eyes that softens as he smiled and darken as they stare intently at each other.
"Hey gorgeous," he greeted as they meet by her desk. He drew her into his arms giving her a kiss. She was expecting a peck on the cheek, something that is usual for him. What she got was a kiss on her lips. She isn't one to say no to that so she kissed him back. Before she could reach out to wrap her arms around his neck, he pulled away.
"Are you ready?" he asked. She nodded trying to hide the disappointment from her face. Instead, she put on a sweet smile.
"What are your plans for today?"
"I have reservations in your favorite restaurant."
"Do I have time to change?" He nodded. "I wonder what favor you're going to ask tonight."
He laughed. "I'll tell you later," he winked, kissed her cheek and they left the school hand in hand.

Maine connected her phone to the car stereo as Alden ease his way into traffic. The late afternoon sun casted an orange glow to the sky as smooth jazz music filled the car. He smiled then kissed the back of her hand.
The events of the past twelve months were the likes of those you can read in romance novels. Which, of course, he would vehemently deny that he'd read, or that the few ones he own were stashed in a box at the back of his closet and that he's a hopeless romantic. Nevertheless, the romantic in him came to life when serendipitous events led him to have this precious woman by his side.
He was running late for a meeting that day but is in dire needs for a cup of coffee. To avoid long lines, he skipped the popular ones and opted for a small café near the meeting place. It has a warm and inviting ambiance that he called for a change in venue for his meeting.
While waiting for his colleague, an angel broke her wings and fell into his arms. Well, it was her heels that broke but she still fell on his lap. Hair the color of milk chocolate flowed like rivers of silk in front of him. When she looked up, the same hair frames a beautiful face. Mesmerizing hazel eyes, delicate nose and kissable pouty lips.
"I am so sorry," he remembered her beautiful voice as she scrambled to her feet. He helped steady her on her feet as she remove the other shoe. She was tiny, compared to his height, but dressed in a rose colored high-necked sleeveless top and charcoal pencil skirt, she looked tall and slim. "Thank you and again, I apologize." He remembered feeling disappointed when she left. Too mesmerized by her beauty, he wasn't even able to ask for her name. When he silently prayed to see her again, he didn't think it'll be answered. But it was.
