- Maine -

The crowd inside the bar increases rather slowly, as varying groups of people make their way through the entrance. The night is still pretty young, at least for people who thrive in the 'nightlife', but with the heat of the summer weather, going out to drink is probably the last thing a person would want to do. The uncomfortable air that lingers in the atmosphere brings an unpleasant slickness to the skin, which is enough of a discouragement to leave the comfort of your home.

For Maine Mendoza though, that is not the case. The humidity will not hinder her from a fun night with her favorite drink of all: alcohol.

At a quarter past ten o'clock in the evening, Maine already finds herself on her third shot glass of tequila. Sitting on the stool beside hers is her friend Kat, short for Katrina Nicolas, who has barely touched her bottle of Tanduay Ice in blue.

"Tanduay Ice? Seryoso?" Maine asks her with a raise of her eyebrows, regarding her friend's drink like it's something that's offending her a great deal. Which it kind of is, to be honest. She drinks way heavier than Kat, sure, but Tanduay Ice? Really?

Kat only glares at her. "What? Maaga pa no. Tsaka ayoko pang malasing, sampung minuto palang yata tayo dito." Maine's friend eyes the shot glass in front of her, and Maine only glares back, a silent challenge for Kat to say anything. Kat only shrugs and rolls her eyes.

It's just the two of them tonight. Maine wanted to go to a bar, and out of the four people she called up, Kat was the only one who showed up. Maine isn't pissed, though; her other friends are still probably trying to recover from how hard they partied two nights ago.

And besides, she probably still would have pushed on with her plan for a night out, had she been alone. She'll always have alcohol as her companion.

"Another one?" Maine hears the bartender offer. She looks up from the shot glass she just emptied to study the guy's face. She really couldn't care less about him, really, but right now she's bored and she needs something to occupy her attention. Maybe this cute face can do it for her.

"Yes, please," she says in reply, batting her eyelashes flirtatiously and flashing the guy a sweet smile. It works, of course; Maine's feminine charms never fail after all. Soon enough, the bartender returns to give her three more glasses -- two of which are free. She smiles at him again, and resists the urge to roll her eyes sarcastically at how giddy his expression gets, kind of like a highschool boy who just scored with his crush.

"Ang landi mong gaga ka," Kat comments when the guy leaves to tend to other customers. She laughs at Maine's acts; none of them are new to her.

Maine shrugs. "At least I got free drinks," she reasons with a laugh of her own. She's scanning the room around her when suddenly, a few guys entering the bar laughing catch her eye. They're a group of four, and the one who looks half-Indian and the one with a lone dimple on his cheek attract her attention more than the other two. They're rather good-looking, if only a little smug in the way they walk, especially the latter. You'd think his dimple will make him look cute and innocent, but as Maine studies his form from her vantage point, she's willing to bet that he's anything but.
