Bill's P.O.V.
She looked helpless slumped against that tree. Worn out from running; dirty, a complete mess of a human. She was taken with many problems and desperate for answers, I could easily take advantage of a mortal in that state...but I won't.
Instead, (after she threw a rock at me) I sat down beside her. She merely whimpered and put her head on her knees. Hesitantly, I put my arm around her balled up figure. She didn't make a move to remove it.
Sighing a breath of relief, I quietly whispered, "Sweetheart, you're so naive. To think I don't know your problems. You were indeed drawn a shitty hand, but don't blame it on yourself." Okay, that was weird. Where's the usual venom?
She peeked up from one of her arms. Her (warm/cool) (e/c) shone with tears. "Y-you know?"
I gave a small laugh. "I can read minds, stupid."
She sat up. "O-oh yeah."
There was a short silence. The wind rustled and blew some leaves. Her (h/c) swayed in the wind.
I smiled. Oh, Sweetheart. How could she could be so sassy and demented yet lovable and sad at the same time? Unpredictable human indeed...
She was pretty upset and overwhelmed about everything that happened today. It must have been extra hard with that little problem to accompany it all. Although she stopped crying, she needed to cheer up. Not that I care or anything. It's just a lot easier on me if she is stable. A comical idea struck.
I made a cheesy and not really true statement to get it started. "Human emotions are incomprehensible to me, just as much as they are pointless. It's true I am blatant with lies and I have no heart." I gave a bitter smile. "What do you think Sweetheart? Willing to throw your existence away for me?"
I could feel the beats of our human hearts. I wonder if this little experiment would work. She looked unsure. "Well, you must feel something. Your actions show it. Is it because you spent so much time in Stan's mind, the emotions wore off on you?"
I blinked, utterly confused. Not the way I thought she would take it. But Feelings? Me? No way. Not big, bad, dream demon Bill. I was supposed to corrupt and conquer, not play with flowers and be merciful. "Psh." I started to laugh. "HAHAHAHHAHAHA!"
She creased her brow. "It's not funny. Be serious."
"I-I'm sorry. Me? Emotions? HAHAHAHA! Hilarious!" I had to hold my sides, it hurt so bad. "You never know the next thing that's coming out of your mouth!"
She tapped my bicep. "Are you okay? More insane than usual?" Oh, if only she knew.
I was in laughing hysterics. "E-emotion?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" It was just so funny. The idea was so far fetched. What was she thinking?
Alright, time to play. I suddenly stopped laughing (it was extremely hard) and looked away. Come on, take the bait.
She peered over. "Bill, what's wrong?"
I had to try extra hard not to laugh. Good thing she couldn't see the smirk. I whipped around to face her. Let's see if I can play mortal with conviction...
