I didn't wait for them to open the door for me. I got out of the car and slammed the door shut. It created a noise. When the security personnels saw me approaching the entrance, they immediately opened the door for me to enter. They greeted me, but I was in a hurry to greet them back.
The receptionists were just looking at me as I made my way to the elevator. Thank God hindi nila ako pinigilan like what I would see in movies. They knew me for sure kaya hinayaan na lang nila ako.
When I reached the floor of Nicko's office, I stormed out of the elevator, and Adrian was not there at his desk. I continued to walk towards his office door. It was slightly open that was why I could see that there were people inside. I stopped to look at what was going on inside. I may be in a hurry to see him, but I wasn't rude to interrupt an important meeting, so I wanted to observe first before going in.
I saw Adrian and there was another man in suit, who was standing next to him. Their backs were facing my direction. Hindi ko makita si Nicko because they were blocking his view. They were talking to him.
"I don't remember making an appointment to see you today."
My eyes started to water when I heard Nicko's voice again after what felt like forever. My chest was beating so hard. A mixture of longing and pain hit me hard.
"You're right. But I came here as soon as I heard that you're back, Mr. Ferragni. Before you left for Italy, you asked me to prepare this," he said while he was holding a folder in his hand and showing it to Nicko. "I got it ready while you were gone because you might ask me for it when you come back. That's why I am here para ako na mismo ang magdala nito sa 'yo," he added.
I was curious of what the man was talking about. It must be really important para utusan siya ni Nicko na ihanda 'yon before siya umalis papuntang Italy at para pumunta ang lalaki agad dito pagkabalik ng pagbalik ni Nicko galing Italy.
I wanted them to talk fast para makapasok na ako. I was getting impatient. At least I wanted to hear what they were talking about para alam ko kung pwede na ba akong pumasok o huwag muna.
Wala akong may narinig na sagot galing kay Nicko. I wanted to see his reaction, but they were still blocking my view of him.
Nobody said anything until after a few minutes when the man spoke again. "I have gathered solid evidences in the last few weeks. All I need is your go signal. Would you like me to push through in processing these documents for annulment?"
Napasinghap ako sa gulat.
Those were annulment papers! They were talking about the annulment!
I saw Adrian's face. Like me, he was shocked also. "Sir, magpapa-annul kayo??"
My cheeks were heating up and my heart was pounding in anger. I had been waiting for him to come back, so we could talk. I was willing to ask for forgiveness again and again if that's what it took for him to forgive me. I wanted us to fix our relationship. But all this time, he was quietly planning about our annulment?! How dare he!!
