Ash doesn't come out after me. I swear I could feel his eyes on me. Derik comes and picks up. All I can think about Ash though.

'I HATE YOU!'

His words ring in my ears. I can still see his hateful expression staring at me. He looked me in the eyes when he yelled at me.

"What's wrong?" Derik's voice cuts through my thoughts. "Did something happen between you and Ash?"

"Ash hates me," I say sadly. "He thinks that I've been ignoring him, but he is one who has been ignoring me."

"Oh baby," he says sympathetically. "What can I do to get your mind off things?"

"I don't know," I sigh sadly. Derik pulls the truck over to the side of the road. He unbuckles his seatbelt and mine. He turns to face me. Carefully he takes my face in his hands, and he kisses me strongly. I kiss back and he slides his hands down my chest and rests them on my hips. I tangle my hands in his hair as our bodies get closer.

I hesitate before pulling away. "What is it?" Derik asks. "Did I do something wrong?"

"No no," I say gently. "I don't want to use you to get my mind off things."

"Come on baby," he says looking into my eyes. "Let me be your distraction."

He kisses me hard and I can feel my breathing hitch as he cups my breasts. I don't want to sleep with him again. I don't know what made me do it the first time, but now it just feels wrong.

"Derik," I whisper. "I should probably get home."

Derik pulls away. "How about I take you somewhere?"

"Where?" I ask curiously.

"Out on a date," he says and starts driving.
