I wake up to the sound of police sirens. I look up and see that Gwen is holding me in her arms. I look in front of me and see the police shoving Derik into the back of a cop car. Over to the side, I see the ambulance pulling out into the road.
"Kendall she's awake!" Gwen cries. "Oh my God. Amanda! I left my purse at your house and I went back to go get it. I saw your mother on the floor and I started to panic. I looked for you, but I couldn't find you anywhere. I thought that maybe you and your friends went somewhere else after the movie. I called the police and they showed me the security footage. I went with the police to go downtown and try to find you. That's when your name came over the radio and- Oh Amanda!"
She holds me tighter. Kendall turns around in his seat. "Amanda," he says gently. "I'm so sorry. I would kill that guy, but I don't want to go to jail. If I could get away with it I would."
I say nothing as Gwen holds me and Kendall pulls out onto the road.
