"Derik!" I knock on the door. I've noticed that only car in the driveway is his. "Amanda," Derik says as he opens the door. "What are you doing here? You didn't come to break up with me did you?"

"What? No!" I say and push him aside, and enter his house. "I have to tell you something. I need you to not freak out, okay?"

"Amanda what is it? You seem shaken up," he says gently. "Maybe you should sit down. Wait, did you run here?"

"Yeah," I say walking to the living room. I sit down on the couch. "I did." Derik sits down next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. "What happened Amanda?" He asks again.

"I- I killed my mother," I blurt out. "I came home and she started beating me. She was drunk, but she was about to kill me and-"

"Whoa calm down," Derik says pulling me closer. "Why were you out?"

"Emily, Cassidy, and I were going to see a movie," I say and I can hear the shakiness in my voice. "But they didn't show. Then Noah came and-"

"Noah? Who's Noah?" He says in an accusing voice.

"Just a friend," I assure him. "This whole thing with my mother... It's just really..."

"Shh," he whispers. "You just relax. I'll get you something to drink."

"Thanks," I mumble as he gets up. I am thirsty and I really want some water. Derik comes back and hands me a glass of water.

I take it from him and smile a little. Fake. My smile is fake. I haven't faked a smile in so long...

That's right loser! You're just a big fate faker!
You don't deserve happiness! You'll be sad forever! You are such a loser!
Your father left you because you are a terrible horrible human being!
Your own mother tried to kill you because she so sick and tired of you!
Ash hates you because you are a bitch and ruin everyone's lives, making them a living hell!
Your mother even said so!

Dots start dancing in front of my eyes. Everything that has been building up inside of me has came crashing down. The dam has cracked, the bridge has collapsed, and the voices in my head are louder than ever. I can't hear anything as my vision blurs and I pass out.
