Could you imagine not even knowing your true identity? To wake up everyday and the rest of the world has amnesia? To live the same day on an endless loop?

"Yo Amanda!" Ash yells as he hand comes crashing down on my book. He sits next to me and smiles. "What are you reading?"

"Who am I?" I say looking at him.
"It's about-"

"How was Derik's party?" Ash asks as if I hadn't spoken.

Why would he care?
He was only asking to be nice. You should try that.
You would fail if you tried. You fail at everything.

"It was okay I guess," I say and bite my lip. I really don't want to tell Ash about the party. "Okay," he says and shrugs.

"Okay class," Mrs. Riley says. "Today Mr. Williams will be working with some of you one on one. Amanda, if you would kindly take your journal and a pencil, and go down to the room next to the library."

I grab my journal and pencil. I slowly get up and walk out of the room. I shut the door behind me and make my way down the hall.

They were all staring at you.
They were judging you.
Just shut the fuck up!

My voice of reason. The voice I thought abandoned me. It was back. I smile and continue my walk.

I stop at the doorway of the library and gaze inside. Shelves upon shelves, all alined with books. My favorite place on Earth. I inhale deeply as I close my eyes. Pages and pages with printed words, creating a universe of their  own. It's seriously the best thing ever. Reading a book and entering someone's else's reality, is the best feeling.

I open my eyes and leave the doorway of the library. I walk a little further down the hall and stop in the doorway of the little room. "Miss Kelly," Mr. Williams smiles at me. "Please come in."

I swear my heart literally skipped a beat. I bite my lips and sit down at the opposite end of the table. "Let me see what you have been working on," Mr. Williams holds out his hand. I hesitate before handing it over to him.

"The child watched as the rain fell, like tear drops from the sky. He knew that there was nothing he could do. It was too late. He felt completely useless," Mr. Williams stops reading and glances up at me. I know that my face is bright red. I fold my hands and lay them in my lap. I look down at my hands, and bite my lip.

"This," he says and clears his throat. "This, is your opener? This is how you have decided to start your story?"

I look up at him and smile shyly. "Yeah... Is it good?" I ask quietly. "It's really good Amanda," Mr. Williams says. "I really like the suspense that you are building."

"Thank you!" I smile widely. I love it when people love my writing. "I don't see where you need my help," he says handing my journal back to me. "Although you could have wrote more I suppose, but I guess you were too busy thinking about your boyfriend."

"I don't have a boyfriend," I say, taking the journal from him. He looks up at me, a smile is playing at his lips and there's light in his eyes. "Really?" He asks looking me dead in the eyes.

"Well," I swallow. "I uh have a date with Derik Messer, this Friday. He's a senior. Varsity football team."

"Oh..." He says and his whole face falls. "Yeah. Of course a pretty girl like you would be dating someone like that."

"Uh," I stare at him. "How old are you Mr. Williams?"

"I'm nineteen," he says not looking at me. "And you can call me Noah. If you'd like..."

"See you around," I say grabbing my journal and pencil. I stand up and push in my chair. I look back at him as I stand in the doorway. "Noah."

I could feel him glance up at me as I turned and walked away. I sigh and start making my way back to my class.

Noah. Noah Williams.
