Mortal AU
3rd POV

"Hey."

Annabeth let her gaze wonder up as her best friend stood there. Annabeth gasped, "Percy Jackson in the library?!"

Percy smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Rachel and I had a fight."

At these words, Annabeth shut her book. She patted the space next to her and Percy sat down. "Tell me all about it," she said.

So, Percy began to talk and let all his emotions pour out. What Annabeth gathered from their fight, was that Rachel didn't like Percy being friends with Annabeth.

Annabeth scowled. "She can't make you stop being friends with me!"

Percy winced. "That's what I said, but..." He trailed off looking ashamed.

"But what, Seaweed Brain?!" Annabeth questioned, anger clouding her thoughts. Surely Percy had told Rachel off.

"But then she threatened to break up with me."

Annabeth fumed. She knew Rachel was bad from the start. But this was going past the line. "You broke it off...right?" Annabeth knew it was a stupid question but she hoped. It was a lost cause though. Percy had a crush on Rachel since she moved here three years ago. Two months ago, Rachel had butted her way into their friendship and clearly wanted Annabeth out of the way. It was only a matter of time before the redhead got what she wanted...

Percy hung his head, angry at himself. She's never gonna forgive me, he thought miserably. "I didn't. That why I came to talk to you," he finally said.

Realization crept into Annabeth. "Percy...don't tell me-"

"I'm sorry. We can't be friends anymore," Percy whispered, tears stinging his eyes. Annabeth was torn. How could he? After all they'd been through? Her parents divorce, his dad dying?! All of it was nothing to him?

Annabeth stood up, her heart breaking into pieces. She couldn't stand to look at him. She gathered her things and grabbed her book.

"When you guys break up, don't come crawling back to me. I'm done." She snarled, fighting back tears, but knowing it wasn't the truth. Everyone in the school library was watching them, wondering why the cutest pair (OTP, they all thought) were crying and/or fuming.

"I'm sorry," Percy whispered. He never wanted this to happen.

"Sorry doesn't cut it this time. And have your stupid bracelet back!" Annabeth ripped the stupid charm bracelet (a gift from Percy, each year he gave her a new charm to add onto the bracelet) and threw it at his chest. "I hope it was worth it, Perseus."

Then she ran out of the library, and to her next period class.

"I'm going to kill him!" Thalia yelled, fury laced into her voice.

"Please, let me join you," Piper and Calypso snarled. Hazel nodded in agreement, which shocked everyone since she was the kindest in the group. But Annabeth didn't argue with them. For all she cared, they could rip the stupid boy to pieces.
