Annabeth

"Here's your room," Dad said.

My eyes widened and I gasped. "Dad, I-"

He laughed, "The twins are rooming. You are fourteen now and you are old enough to get your own-"

Ding dong.

"I'll get it!" I yelled, running past him, and down the stairs.

I pulled the door open and was faced with a tall boy, with messy raven hair, green eyes like the sea. He was wearing a beanie and jeans with a sweater-flannel that instantly marked him as a Mama's Boy.

"Hello," I said, brushing my hair back suddenly regretting not pulling into a bun. His eyes widened and he looked down at his feet, a small blushed spreading through his pale cheeks.

"Hi," he murmured, not meeting my gaze. I noticed he was holding a plate of blue chocolate chip cookies, which I'd certainly never heard/seen of before. "I'm Percy, the neighbor." He pointed to the house right next to ours.

"I'm Annabeth. Howdy do?" I asked, my goofy side sliding out to play.

He chuckled and grinned, "My mom said to bring these over." Percy held up the plate. I grabbed one and bit into it, him watching my mouth.

"Mm. This is really good!" I exclaimed, savoring the taste. It reminded me of my mom's cookies that she baked on rainy days.

I felt tears prick my eyes and blinked them away, putting the cookie on the plate. "Thanks."

Percy's eyebrows furrowed, "I hope we'll be good friends."

I cracked a smile, trying to make him worry less. "Yeah. That'll be nice."

He handed me the plate, and walked away. I shut the door.

"We got cookies!"

"Night guys."

"Night Annie," the twins said. I glared at them, but let it pass.

"Night honey," my parents smiled. I grinned and headed up the stairs. I walked into my room and quickly changed, pulling on pajama pants and a T-shirt. I pulled my hair into a messy bun, strands hanging down. I climbed into bed, staring at the ceiling, falling fast asleep.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

"Huh?" I mumbled, trying to block out the noise.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

"What now?" I asked, removing the pillow from my face. I looked at the clock and it read 1:00. Who could possibly be beckoning at this hour?

The tap came again, and I hurried to the sound. It drew me towards the window, which held the back door. There was a roof, just enough space to sit down. I drew back the curtains and was met with green eyes staring at me. I jumped back in surprise then opened the window.

"What Percy?" I yawned.

"I can't sleep."

"Boo hoo, cry me a river."

"Annabeth..."

"I barely even know you!"

"Please?"

"No."

Please?"

"No. Leave me alone."

"Annabeth. Please?"

"No. I'm going back to-"

"I had a really bad nightmare."
