On the way home from Chris' mum hit me with a hurricane off questions which, as Chris and I had developed a cohesive story, already knew the answers to. She seemed convinced enough by these that she could quite happily ramble on about how cute Levy was and how amazing Chris was, which I had no arguments against for either. She was quite clearly trying to push Levy onto me as a girlfriend but to that I simply told her that she was already interested in somebody else.
"I have to go in to the office after we get home and I'll be there till late. So make sure you do any homework you have and the list of chores I left on the fridge. Okay?" She smiled brightly as she said this in a harsh tone.
"Okay." I nodded before I looked out the window and got lost in thought again.
For the rest of the drive home all I could think about was the way Chit and Levy had acted and the way Chris had tried to help and distract me from it. He was so cool and nice about it. To know something so horrid about someone you'd just met and not have a single problem with it, he must be a really kind guy.
