Ro's POV
Thanks to Niall's need to stop for food every few miles and having to stop to digest said food and his unwillingness to drive through the night, our one day drive ended up taking two and a half days. I was actually fine with it, but we got our asses handed to us when we finally arrived. Ethan was obviously anxious to get his hands on the book not really concerned about me, which stung a little if I was honest. And because I was a brat and he got on my nerves, I was petty and decided not to help. Since I was the only one who could open the damn thing, I refused to do so. Instead, I holed up in my room with Harry watching movies and eating.
"Sweetheart," Harry cooed in my ear, his fingers wrapping around my chin to force me to look at him. "Are we ever going to leave this dorm room?" He questioned softly.
"Yep," I chirped, looking back at the flat screen.
"For how long baby?" He seemed genuinely concerned.
I pulled his arms away from me, sitting up against the headboard, hitting my head slightly. I did it on purpose, hoping it would knock some sense into me, but of course, it didn't. "Harry, you can leave if you want," I sighed. "You don't have to stay and witness my crazy."
"I like your crazy babe," he chuckled, pecking my lips. "I just want to understand it a little bit better. You know?" The back of his fingers ran against my cheek, soothing me instantly.
"I just, I'm scared," I admitted.
He easily gripped my hips sitting me on his lap, spreading my legs so I straddled him. "Talk to me."
I cupped his face in both my hands, leaning my head down to rest on his. "Harry, I'm afraid of what might happen once that book is opened."
"What do you think might happen?" He whispered, keeping his voice soft and soothing, making it easier for me to feel at ease.
I caressed his face, my fingers twirling his hair. "Honestly? I'm terrified that once the book is opened, I'll have to make a choice-"
"Between us and your destiny?"
I scoffed, pulling my head from his. "Harry, I don't believe my destiny is in some book, I think we all choose our own destiny, but yes, I'm afraid that that stupid book will say that we can't be together. I'm afraid of what power I might get or if I might not get one. I'm afraid of my life turning upside down and what I thought no longer exists. I'm afraid of losing you," I repeated.
"If you'll have me," he began, running the tip of his finger against my lips. "You'll never lose me. Never, ever, I promise."
"I know I sound stupid and childish and super clingy-"
"It's nothing that I don't feel for you," he continued to whisper. "I love you in a way I can't describe-"
"What if that isn't love?" I interrupted. "What if it's something else-"
"Love can never be described in words, but I know I love you in the way we look at each other. In the way my heart skips a beat or two when we're close. In the way I can't sleep if I'm not near you or know that you are okay. In the way we fight like cats and dogs, but in the end, we're always right here for each other. I know I love you in so many ways and nothing, not even an ancient book is going to stop that or stop me from fighting to be with you. I know I've had my reservations concerning your family and your status, but you were right. You and I , we decide what to do with our lives and I'm deciding that I'm going to fight for a woman I love."
His words bounced around in my head, giving me a slight headache in the process. "Harry, that sounds great and all, but these powers, this life, what if it's something like that that's attracting us to one another? I mean I know you feel that static shock when we touch and this fee-"
