Ro's POV

Christmas came and went. Though my parents tried to make it special as always, somehow, the magic I felt during this particular holiday had faded. My childlike image of the day was tarnished. I didn't see the point. Of course, I smiled and laughed, but all I wanted to do was call it a day. I felt bad for Harry. He was here, knowing how I felt towards my family while he was unable to see his. His efforts to mend my view on my family were fruitless. I was too stubborn to see his point and he knew it, but he kept quiet, keeping a close watch on me so I wouldn't say or do anything I would regret or to compromise our somewhat formulated plans. It was still a work in progress, but we still needed it to be kept a secret, especially with the Anderson's and Lily so near.

It was now New Year's Eve, the night of my parents biggest party. We were no longer in their lake house but in their penthouse, racing to get ready to attend their gala, which I was no being informed was basically a gathering of the most affluent people in the "magical" community who used the gala to show of their children. This year it was Ron who would be their show dog. He tried to get them to show me as well since I was now aware of this life, but they declined, saying I wasn't of age yet. For once, I had no issue being my age. I only had four months left of being nineteen and now that I knew the freedom that entailed, I was going to take advantage of it.

Ignoring my parents "request" to have Hunter escort me, I made sure Harry was ready, knowing my mother wouldn't fight me with so many people around. We descended the elevator in groups, getting in the limos in the same groups. "This is some event, huh?" Harry commented as I worked my trembling hands in his, for warmth and some reassurance.

"Her mother is the fucking queen. Do you expect anything less?" Louis chuckled, earning a glare from Ethan who was also in our group, which I think was done on purpose, just to keep an eye on me.

"This is a charity event," he corrected in efforts to minimize my families need for grander.

I scoffed, stopping when Harry have me a stern look, silently begging me to behave. I sighed and nodded, not wanting to get into it with any of them.

Third Person POV

As the various limos carrying the royal family and their company lined up, the photographers readied themselves, their flashes going off before anyone even stepped out. Of course I'm their world, this was just a filthy rich couple with too many kids that did all they could to help the community through extravagant galas that only the root were invited to. Some diplomats, celebrities, anyone in power or a strong voice to help with a good cause. Little did they know it was all a front and Adriane Monroe was a queen, arriving to grace her subjects.

Leo was the first to exit, being the face of his family, as well as making sure it was safe for his wife to exit. Though they had ample security, the love Leo had for his wife never let him trust anyone fully. He had to see things were okay with his own eyes.

Following her husband, Adriane made her exit, graceful as always, taking her husbands hand for support, not only physically, but emotionally as well. Although she oozed of confidence and grace, inside she was a trembling mess. In all her years of being alive, one would think she was used to all this attention and power, but she wasn't. And that was what made her one of the greatest Monroe's that ever lived. Her constant fear allowed her to view things in a different way, allowing her to be more observant and consider the best options for the best outcomes. It was a trait she unknowingly passed on to all her children, even Ron. By taking up the Monroe name, he was bound to them in every way.
