Hiding [General POV]

Cannot wait till we reach 100 one-shots! Plus, I have the perfect idea thanks to this picture 😄 but it's another AU in General POV (sorrynotsorry😊)

Tears blurred his vision, but he didn't stop. He didn't know where he was going, but he refused to stop. He needed to get away and, being too ashamed to go home, he just ran. Ran through the dark streets of Zootopia, bumping into other animals along the way. He kept running until he found a secluded bridge, losing his hat along the way, but he didn't care. With tears running down his cheeks, he ran under the bridge and collapsed against the wall, sliding down it and onto the dusty ground.

Why were they all so mean? What had he done to them? What could he possibly have done that was so bad that he had to be muzzled at a place of equality? It didn't add up, and Nick felt like an outcast at that moment, hiding from the world because he was a predator. The feeling felt horrible - the feeling of being muzzled. It felt like he was trapped, and that he couldn't breathe, the fear and claustrophobia rising within his chest every second he had the thing on.

But he managed to get it off, his claws making a surprise appearance only to scratch his face in the effort, but he got it off. And he threw it as far and hard as he possibly could, the metal object hitting a wall nearby before he took off running.

And now little Nick was sitting in the cold, huddled against a wall under a damp bridge crying into his knees. He didn't know how long he was there for, but it must've been a long time, as someone eventually came along to find him.

"Hello?" Someone - a girl - asked, kneeling down next to Nick.

He slowly looked up, his face moist with tears, but he could still see. In front of him was a bunny, small like him and probably around his age, in a police officer uniform. She was smiling sweetly as her purple eyes sparkled in the moonlight. Nick noticed she was holding something green behind her back and sniffled.

"I believe this belongs to you," the bunny said, handing him what she had behind her back: his junior ranger scout hat.

Even though Nick didn't want it, he took it anyway and put it on his head for the bunny's satisfaction, and watched as her face lit up. He then smiled at her as his eyes shone with tears, but smiled nonetheless.

"Thank you," he said quietly. "What are you doing out here so late?" He asked curiously.

"I was out making the world a better place!" She exclaimed proudly, putting her paws on her hips.

Nick was intrigued and wiped his tears away, standing up next to the bunny.

"Really? How so?" He asked excitedly.

"I was making sure all the animals were happy and I saw your hat on the floor, so I asked everyone I saw if they knew who it belonged to. And I found you, haha!" She exclaimed, hugging Nick. "Hey, why were you crying?" She asked, her eyebrows creasing in worry.

"Oh," he began, his face falling. "These animals were really mean to me. They said I could never become a junior ranger scout because I'm a fox and they muzzled me."

The bunny looked at him in worry, but soon perked up with a nudge to Nick's arm.

"Hey, what's your name?" She asked,

"Nick," he answered, looking up at the bunny.

"Well they said I would never become a police officer, but I will Nicky! I'm gonna make the world a better place!" She exclaimed happily, the smile reappearing on Nick's face.

"I'm Judy, let's be friends!" She said, holding out her paw for Nick to shake.

"Ok, Judy! I'm Nick!" Nick repeated, shaking her paw enthusiastically.

"I know, silly, you told me!" Judy giggled, hugging Nick again before her mother called down to her.

"Bye, Nicky!" She waved as she skipped away, leaving Nick to his own devices.

That night, he walked home with a smile on his face and a skip in his step. He was going to become a junior ranger scout no matter what anybody thought of him, and Judy promised to fight anyone who tried to stop him. And Nick agreed to fight anyone who told Judy she couldn't become a police officer, and soon enough, they became the best of friends.
