Ok ok, before I get onto the one-shot, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to tetskurou for letting me use this idea that she used in one of her Haikyuu!! x Reader One-Shots. I suggest that if you like Haikyuu!! then you should definitely read her book of one-shots, they are AMAZING.

2:17am. I groaned and rolled over further into the bed. I couldn't sleep, even though I really wanted to, I couldn't, and it was really annoying. How Nick could sleep so soundly whenever he pleased, for however long he pleased, was beyond me. Luckily, he was a deep sleeper and probably wouldn't even stir if I jumped on him.

It wasn't fair. If I couldn't sleep, then Nick shouldn't be able to sleep either. Selfish, I know, but Nick and I do everything together. We eat together, we work together, we talk together, and most importantly, we sleep together. I couldn't help but feel that, with Nick doing something without me, I was missing out on something - even if it was just sleeping. So I decided to wake him up.

I rolled over again so that I was on my side facing Nick's sleeping body. He slept on his back on most days, and today was one of those days. I crawled over to him and poked his cheek.

"Nick," I whispered, but he didn't wake up. That didn't surprise me really.

So, I poked him harder and spoke louder.

"Nick," I said more firmly but he still didn't wake up.

I sighed in annoyance and crawled up on top of him. I was quite light so it would take a lot more than just my weight to wake Nick up.

"Nick," I said, kissing him on the cheek.

Still no reaction.

So, then started my other attempts. I began kissing from one side of Nick's neck up to his cheek and up to his forehead, trailing down to the other side of his neck. He stirred but still didn't wake up. It almost made me feel bad, seeing how peaceful he looked when he slept. But I was wide awake and I needed him awake so we were even.

Just then, I remembered something that always caught Nick off guard, whether he was awake or asleep. I smirked to myself and reached around behind Nick, trying to find his tail, and when I found it, I gave it a light squeeze and quickly pulled my paw away.

Suddenly, Nick's eyes snapped open, a confused look washed over his face. I lay my arms down on his chest and rested my head on top of them, starting dreamily into Nick's emerald green eyes. He took a moment to process what was going on, then smiled when he saw me laying in his chest.

"Can't sleep?" He asked, draping an arm around my waist.

I nodded lazily and Nick chuckled.

"Well, what would you like me to do about it this time?" He asked teasingly.

I thought for a moment, scrunching up my nose as I did so, until my ears perked up.

"Ooh, I know!" I exclaimed, and Nick nodded. "We could make fairy cakes!"

Nick raised an eyebrow. "Fairy cakes?"

"Yeah!" I answered happily. "We played chess last time which was really boring, so I thought we could do something more fun this time."

Nick gave me a look that said "really?" before chuckling.

"Fairy cakes at two in the morning?" He repeated and I nodded excitedly.

"Alright," he agreed, getting up so I slid off of his chest and onto the floor, landing on my feet with ease. "Let's go."

I skipped down the stairs, not even waiting for Nick before turning on the kitchen light and getting out all of the ingredients and laying them out on the kitchen counter.

For the next hour, we just messed around. Spilling most of the mixture on the counter and on the floor rather than getting it into the mixing bowl, but we had a blast nonetheless. Throwing flour and getting icing on the tips of our noses was fun. And by the time the cupcakes were ready, I let out my first yawn of the night.

Nick smirked at me and hopped off of the counter he was sitting on, bending over to his nose was touching mine.

"Tired?" He asked teasingly as I rubbed my eyes.

I nodded like a little child and yawned, causing Nick to chuckle.

"Tell you what, we'll both eat a fairy cake, then we'll go back to bed, ok?"

"Ok," I said groggily, picking up a fairy came and starting to eat it. They were actually really good, but I was too tired to acknowledge their tastiness.

By the time we were finished, I leaned my head on Nick's chest for one second and had already fallen asleep, snoring lightly against his bare chest. Nick chuckled and shook his head, picking me up bridal-style before carrying me up to our bed. After laying me down gently on my side of the bed, he climbed in afterwards and, although I didn't hear it, he whispered in my ear,

"Night, Judy," before kissing me on the cheek and falling asleep himself.
