"So much for the immaculate garden with the white picket fence and suburban neighbours"
"Don't be a hater"
"I'm not, just clearly pointing out the obvious" stated swaying her hand her hand across the vast amount of space.
Lifting the estate agent brochure to eye level once more Natalee squinted at the pictures and then focused back at the barn conversion in front of her, something just didn't add up "Well i guess it could look a lot better on the inside" she sucked up her clear disappointment at the vast difference between what she had been expecting at the reality of the situation, taking Chloe's hand she pulled her best friend up the driveway and knocked on the door.
No answer, the conversion itself was pretty big so Natalee put it down to the owner not hearing the knock or being on the fr side of the house, so she knocked again. While waiting she began o take in the details the agent had failed to inform her off. The garden would need new turf, gravel for the driveway, new fencing, she began to tick things off her list, there was definitely work to be had outside. Natalee sighed this isn't what she signed up for.
Still there was no answer at the door.
"Well this is just the icing on the cake isn't it" Chloe muttered under her breathe
"A little moral support would help"
Chloe rolled her eyes, "Remind me why you are doing this again"
" 'Cause believe it or not the older you get the more compromises you have to make" Natalee reasoned
"Are you sure he isn't forcing you into this?" Chloe asked referring to Natalee husband.
Natalee turned giving her friend the death glare "Don't even bother bring up that argument again"
"But you and i both know your heart is in the city" Chloe protested
Natalee openly sighed "Can you really see Andrew living in the heart of London, plus you know I've been trying to break away form that lifestyle for the longest"
"But it's in your blood" Chloe continued
"And you of all people should know how much i have wanted a family home of my own" Natalee began, "especially with this little munchkin on the way" she rubbed her small stomach and then knocked the door again.
"Move to the suburbs then!"
Natalee closed her eyes pinched the bridge of her nose and took in her deep breath, blame it on the hormone change but she was beginning to lose patience "Clo, would you please, just for one minute, shut you trap"
As harsh as she had been her friend needed to be told and lately there only seemed to be one way in accomplishing that., even if it meant being rude. Natalee banged on the front door again as her friend complied and keep quiet, when there was no response from either the homeowner or her best-friend, she turned to her friend " You know I love you right?"
Chloe nodded "I'll just miss you that's all" she shrugged
Natalee took her friend in her arms, speaking directly in her ear "If all goes to plan the spare bedroom is all yours"
"What will Andrew say?"
"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it" Natalee assured giving her friend a squeeze "As for now I think we should focus on the real problem at hand" Natalee stated nodding her head toward the barn house
Chloe chuckle "right you are" surveying the area and pleased to she there only companions the grazing sheep in the field near by Chloe dropped to a squat picking up the garden mat, and the gnome and the flower pot, careful to put them all back in place with an unsatisfied smile.
Taking a step back Chloe looked around once more
"What are you-"
"Shh" Chloe cut off "Don't interrupt a genius at work"
"Oh boy" Natalee began to roll her eyes as her friend ran her fingers above the door frame, taking a step back, she called over her shoulder "I'm just going to give the agent a ring she if the can-"
"Bingo!" Chloe exclaimed and began placing the key in the lock
"Um Clo?"
"Hmm?"
"What are you doing?"
Chloe let out a small grunt as she finally got the door to budge open "Welcome to your humble-" she began "No way!"
Natalee quickly made her way back to the porch ready to face all types of catastrophe "What?!"
Standing in front of the door, Chloe pulled it flush against her back as eyes twinkled in delight. "Baby-girl, i think you may have hit the jackpot" and she let the door swing back from behind her.
Taking a tentative step inside, Natalee's mouth dropped open letting out a gasp as she took in her surroundings do a full circle, turning to face her best-friend she could clearly see an expression the mirrored her own.
Placing a smug girn on her lips " So Clo, still think I should get the white picket fence cottage with suburban neighbours"
All her friend could do was laugh as the ran to check out the rest of the house.
