"Morning Sian!"

"You're late!" she scolded from her place at the front of the class

"So class if you could turn to-"

Blocking out the rest of what Sian was saying, I made my way across the class towards my seat. Dropping in the seat neat to my good friend Jess, I sent her a smile asking her how she was, at that moment Sian cleared her throat causing the both of us to look in  her direction.

"When you two are quite done I would like to continue the lesson without your interruption" she raised an eyebrow at the two of them daring them to utter another word.

Sending each other a smug look from the corner of their eyes they followed an unspoken agreement to keep their heads down and get some work done.

Taking their silence as an affirmation that they were to be quiet, Sian continued, "As I was saying-"

"- Morning Sian"

Lifting my head, watched the new late addition to the class and then back at Sian's expression as Reece sauntered over to his seat.

"Care to explain why you're late Reece"

He shrugged his shoulders before taking his seat across from me, choosing to slump back before answering  "Lost track of time I guess"

Letting out a sigh Sian had turned back to her presentation before Jess lent over to whisper in my ear.

"What a rude little so-so"

"Tell me about it "  she agreed

Jess went back to her work while I continued to partially listen to Sian presentation, doodling on my sheet of paper to pass the time. Growing bored I began to gaze around the class and people watch, like me, many other students had begun to either doodle, pass notes or out right fall asleep.

Noticing my distractionJess nudged me in the side as a sign that I should get back to work, or at least look like I was taking notes. All I did was shrug her off, I don't know why she bothered.

Like always I would just end up copying Jess'  notes like I did every language lesson, just like she would copy my maths notes. Placing my head in my hands, my gaze finally settled on the newly accused late comer, not that I was one to judge being 10 minutes late myself.

This time rather than pass him by and move onto the next specimen of boredom, I actually stopped to take a look at Reece's slumped form. Checkered shirt, un-tucked of course, tan coloured chinos, I gave a slight nod in approval.

I had to give it to him, the boy had a sense of style, Sitting straighter in my seat I tried to peak over the table to see his acquired footwear, in the world of Renaya's we all knew this could either make or break a deal.

Getting nowhere in my futile attempts to take a peak I opted for the next best thing, 'accidently' dropping my pen on the ground. Once I heard the 'clack' of it meeting thee ground I waited a few seconds before bending down to retrieve it, I could almost feel Jess rolling her eyes at me in the current situation.

Ducking under the table to 'find' my pen, I twisted myself to get a good look at Reece's footwear. My face instantaneously slumped in disappointment. Worn out black pumps that had definitely seen much better days.

"And he was doing so well" I quietly sighed to myself, I heard a small laugh from Jess, obviously I wasn't as quiet as I thought.

"Renaya!"

"Um yes Sian?"

"Care to tell me what you are doing under the desk?"

Looking for my pencil," which was no lie as I had actually managed to misplace it in my moment of disappointment.

Patting around I finally notice where it had rolled.

"Oh My Gosh!"

"Renaya get-"

Shuffling out from under the desk I turned to face Sam, "Are those the Jordan III 'Fire Red'?"

"Umm yeah?"

Looking  a little shocked at my outburst her seemed to question himself

"No way! I can't believe you own a pair!"

"Renaya-"

To say I was excited was an understatement and by the look on Jess' face i was even causing her an embarrassment

"Where did you-"

"Rena-"

"-get them?"

"Right that's it Renaya outside!" Sian boomed

"What did I do?" I asked giving Sian the attention she seemed to crave

"'What did I do?' she says?" Sian begins to rant "Interrupting my class over a pair of shoes!"

"Shoes?" I snorted "Did you just call them shoes?"

Sian went to open her mouth but I beat her to the punch. " You should be ashamed, uttering such trainer blasphemy" and with that I picked up my belongings a walked out the class.
