Can you believe we're already on chapter 50? Holy shit

50. Rowan

"Do you really have to go?" I ask with a small pout.

"Yes, I do and I'm sorry" Austin sighs.

"But you're going to miss the 4th of July"

"I know Baby, but this is really important for me" He pulls his bag over his shoulder.

"When will you be back?" I ask, earning a shrug in response.

"The 9th or 10th" He tells me and my frown deepens "What's that face for?" He asks, running his thumb over the crease between my eyebrows.

"Rosa and I leave for Malibu on the 8th" I huff and he sighs heavily.

"I forgot about that" He runs his hand over his face "How long will you be gone?"

"Until the 16th" I answer, and he chews on his bottom lip.

"Then I guess we better make this worth it huh?" He sighs, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. He kisses my forehead as I bury my face into his chest, tightening my grip around his torso "2 weeks" He huffs "That's a long ass time"

"I know, but if you didn't give me such short notice about you leaving, maybe we could've done something more exciting before you left" I sigh.

"I know, I know. But I kept forgetting to tell you"

"How do you forget to tell me? I know you've done so much to plan for this, so why would you forget?" I ask with a loud huff, rolling my eyes.

"Because every time I'd try to tell you something else would happen"

"Oh, whatever" I roll my eyes again, walking from him to go and grab my phone checking the time.

"Don't be mad at me" He frowns.

"I'm not mad, but you should probably go, your flight leaves in an hour" I tell him, my voice monotone.

"I can take my jet if I really needed to, now tell me what's wrong" He demands, but I only shrug.

"Nothing is wrong, I just don't want you to be later"

"Whatever Rowan" He huffs, rolling his eyes. He walks over to me and kisses my lips softly, pulling away with a sigh when I don't return the gesture "Bye Rowan" He shakes his head, walking out of his bedroom and eventually I hear the front door slam shut.

I sit on the edge of the bed with a deep frown painted on my face, wondering where we're going wrong. I get off of his bed and walk out of his penthouse, maneuvering around the boxes that are still sitting around everywhere and take the elevator to the bottom floor to call a taxi. I take the taxi to Rosa's house and use my key to unlock the door walking into her house.

"Oh shit, good morning" She yawns "I didn't expect to see you here" She chuckles, but stops when she sees I'm not amused "What's wrong?"

"What am I doing wrong?" I ask, sitting down beside her on the couch, resting my head on her shoulder.

"What do you mean?"

"With Austin, ever since that 'break up' we had, nothing is the same. We're both on edge, we don't necessarily argue but we easily get frustrated with each other. He barely ever tells me he loves me anymore, I don't know what I'm doing wrong" I sigh heavily.

"Where is he now?" She asks.

"He's going to Miami for some conference thing that will help him put offices wherever he wants, or something like that" I shrug.

"When's he coming back?"

"The 9th or 10th"

"Oh so we'll be gone before he comes back" She clicks her tongue "Well, when we get back you need to talk to him about it. Letting this go on isn't going to solve anything, it's not going to just fix itself"

"I know" I sigh "Wanna go to the mall?" I ask and she nods.

"Sure, just let me change" She stands up from the couch "You can borrow something if you'd like, but it can't be pants" She laughs and I roll my eyes playfully.

"I'm alright" I follow her up the steps and we walk into her room and I sit down on her bed, watching her look for clothes.

"So has Austin moved yet?"

"Nope" I shake my head "I don't even know when. I feel like I'm going to find out when I show up to his penthouse and he doesn't answer some snobby couple does"

"I don't even know what to tell you" She frowns, pulling out a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, changing into them and sliding on a pair of shoes.

"I don't expect anyone to know what to tell me" I shrug, walking out to her car and getting into the passenger seat. We drive to the mall and walk around for a while, doing a lot of window shopping before we find a place to eat. As I look through my menu, my phone buzzes giving me a notification that Austin just tweeted.

@austinmahone: Just touched down in Miami, god damn it's hot. Good to be home

"What's wrong? Your face just got ten times sadder" Rosa asks.

"Austin tweeted about how he just landed but he always texts me first, and then he put 'good to be home' yet he tells me he think New York is a better home than Miami" I mutter childishly "I don't know what's going on"

"Maybe he's typing out a message for you now" She shrugs, and I nod.

"Maybe"

***

He had never sent me a text, nor has he called me. I don't know what it is that I did wrong, but I know that if I ask I'll get nothing's wrong Babe, just a lot going on with the business. His age old excuse is the one excuse I hate hearing more than anything, I hate hearing it because I know it's a lie. I know it's a lie because I've seen him when that excuse was actually the truth, and rather than ignore me, he called me all the time to tell me about what's bothering him, he'd call me to hang out so he could take his mind off things. He drop by my house with flowers and ice cream because he said my smile makes him feel better.

I don't know where that Austin is, but I sure as hell want him back.
