This chapter will have both povs in it, just a heads up.

Okay, so before we start let me clear things up in case they're confusing...
Rowan did NOT cheat on Austin, and deep down Austin doesn't believe it, but he scared that he's believed something for so ling that wasn't actually true. You'll see why he believed it in this chapter.

71. Austin

My eyes burn from lack of sleep and excess of tears. I attempt to do my job, hoping to still be a functional human being, but the glimpse of her picture on my desk brings a whole new wave of sadness. 

I need someone to talk to, but I have no one. She was the person I'd go to just to talk, and never in a million years did I think she would be the one to hurt me. I can't talk to Mom because she doesn't know everything, and I don't want to hurt her at the same time I'm hurt.

"Sorry to interrupt your crying session, but I have things to say" Mack bursts through my door. 

"I almost forgot you were here" I sigh, she came here for a little vacation, as she puts it, but I know she was just checking up on me. 

"Hmm, that's a first. Normally, I'm unforgettable" She hums "Whatever" 

"What do you want?" I huff "I'm not in the mood"

"To talk about your little girlfriend" 

"She's not my girlfriend" I grit.

"Right, sorry. Anyways, she did cheat on you" She shrugs, sitting down in front of me.

"What?" 

"She called me, and at first she was begging for me to help her but then she broke down crying" She explains "I asked her what was wrong and she said you were right, she said it was an old friend" She says "I'm sorry" She sympathizes "And because you're hurting I won't say I told you so" 

"I want to go home" I frown, hearing that all my accusations are true is nearly too much to handle for me. 

"But she's there-"

"No, I want to go back to Miami. I was only here for her and now that we're over what's the point" I shrug.

"You're right" She nods "I'll go book us a flight okay?" Mack stands up, walking out of my office. 

I sit in silence until I get an email confirmation saying that a plane ticket was booked under my name for tomorrow afternoon.  

I don't want to be making a mistake. I can't help but wonder if she's actually telling me the truth or not. It can't be true, I've tried before, but never got any luck so there's no way I'd get lucky now. I need to see her at least one more time. I know it's probably the worst decision known to man, but I can't just move to another state without seeing her first. 

I lean forward on my desk, my head leaning on the mouse pad. I can feel tears fill my eyes again, but I push the back, I'm tired of crying. 

My day eventually ends, and I take a deep breath knowing I have to drive to Rowan's to get the rest of my stuff so I can go home. I park in her driveway, breathing out in relief when I see her car isn't in the driveway. 

I unlock the door, using my key and what up to the bedroom. I stop dead in my tracks as I see her laying on my side of the bed, clutching my pillow for dear life as she's sound asleep. 

I find myself staring at her figure for longer than expected, a voice breaking me out of my thoughts "Came to apologize, or hurt her even more?" Rosa says, and I turn to look at her.

"What?"

"I'm pretty sure what I said wasn't hard to understand" She rolls her eyes, sitting a grocery bag on the bedside table "I don't know what's so wrong that you won't believe her. As if she's given you any reason not to" She grits "You know, she's thinking about getting rid of it, and I don't mean by adoption. And it's all your fault!" She jabs a finger into my chest. 

"Because of you, I have to see my best friend cry herself to sleep, only to wake up a half an hour later because she had a bad dream. Because of you, I have to listen to her cry about how terrible of a person she is when she did nothing wrong. Because of you, I have to listen to her tell me she wants to get an abortion just to keep you. Crazy isn't it? The baby is yours, but she's willing to give it up just so she can keep someone who's willing to believe something that would never actually happen" 

"She told Mack she cheated on me" 

"And you actually believe that happened? Why would Rowan ever do that? The two of them despise each other, so even if Rowan told the truth, Mack would say she cheated on you anyways, but you know, believe your best friend, who doesn't love you nearly as much as Rowan does" She shrugs "Just do whatever you have to do and get out"

I do as she says, packing up the rest of my stuff and zipping my suitcase. I turn back to look at them "I'm sorry" 

"Yeah, me too" Rosa rolls her eyes, and I walk out, hating myself more than I did going in there. 

71. Rowan

"Rowan, you need to eat something" Rosa sighs, but I shake my head "You want your baby to be healthy right?" 

"Yes" I nod.

"Then eat, I've seen you eat once this entire week. That's not okay" She shoves a bowl of spaghetti  towards me, sitting across from me. I follow her commands and eat the spaghetti as she watches me "You're going to keep the baby right?" She asks, and I swallow the food in my mouth. 

"Yes" 

"Can you tell me why he doesn't believe he has a baby? I'm very confused" 

"Because at one point in time, he tried to have kids, but it didn't work. So he went to the doctors and they told him he was sterile. So, you know, he believes he can't have kids. But, he got me pregnant" I shrug.

"Have you told your mom yet?"

"No" I shake my head, shoving another fork full of spaghetti into my mouth "I don't want an 'I told you so' lecture" 

"He was here the other day, I never told you" She frowns and my eyes widen.

"What?"

"He's moving back to Miami" She says quietly.

"That's fine" I shrug, though I don't mean it.

I'll never mean it.
