chapter thirty five

Bonnie has been trying hundreds of spells and none of them are working. She was holding my hands now with candles around us she has her eyes closed. She just stopped mumbling. "Bonnie.." I mumbled giving up. "Give it a minuet." she snapped annoyed.

I yanked my hands away. "It's not working. Only Alaric can help me." I snapped standing up and walking out of the room frustrated. "Hey.." Elena mumbled from the living room with Caroline. Stefan and Damon were still with Alaric and Joe.

"You heard?" I asked knowing they did. Caroline looked down. Elena nodded. Bonnie walked out sadly. "Give me more time. I'll find something else." she said walking to the kitchen were the witch book is.

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "This is useless." I mumbled and punched the wall hard enough to feel my bone snap in my hand. Caroline flinched. "Lilly.." Elena mumbled.

"Matt and Tyler are on their way. They want to help." Caroline spoke up. "Tell them to forget it. Only Alaric can help. And he won't." I said knowing it was true. I shook my head and walked to my room.

I need to be alone.

I've taken a shower and changed into jeans and a lose white t-shirt with a black tank top under it. I have my hair up in a pony tail and I'm going to the kitchen for a drink now. I walked into see Bonnie with her nose in the book..Caroline on her phone and Elena looking worried and staring off into space.

When I walked in Elena smiled at me. Caroline didn't even look up and Bonnie glanced up then back down. "I might have a new thing.." Bonnie mumbled. I nodded. "Sorry I snapped. We should keep trying." I said. Elena nodded happy.

Bonnie nodded and smiled lightly when Elena's phone went off. She quickly answered it. "Elena is Lilly there?" Damon asked immediately. He knows I can hear him..why is he asking that? Elena looked as confused as I felt.

"What? Yeah she's right here." she answered. "Make sure she cant hear me." he said firmly. "Why?" she asked. I crossed my arms slightly worried. "Do it Elena." He said grunting. "Okay..okay." Elena said looking at me sympathetically.

She left the room and left my hearing range. "What was that about?" Caroline asked. "No idea." I mumbled worried. "I don't have super ears. What happened?" Bonnie asked. "Damon made sure Lilly couldn't hear him." Caroline said.

Bonnie seemed confused too. "Text Stefan. He should be with Damon." Bonnie suggested. Caroline nodded. "Speaking of Stefan. Are you two a thing?" I asked curiously. She smiled conforming it for me. "Not really." she lied.

"Mhm. Sure thing." I said sarcastically. She rolled and eyes smiling. Elena came back in making us all turn to her. "What happened?" Bonnie asked. Elena looked extremely nervous. "Lilly..Stefan and Damon and Alaric are on there way back." she started.

My eyes widened. "They got him to remove the compulsion?" I asked excitedly. She shook her head no..and she looked down scratching the back of her neck. "Elena?" Caroline asked.

"Kai..he killed Joe." she said blankly. My stomach twisted. Caroline gasped. "What? He..no he couldn't have..he wouldn't..he changed." I said not believing her. "He made himself invisible and snapped Stefan and Damon's neck. When they were out he ripped her neck open and let her bleed out..Alaric tried to stop him..but Kai threw a vervain stake in his stomach. He must have turned himself back off again.." Elena explained.

My head was reeling. This cant be. Why would he do that? Out of anger? He would throw everything away out of anger? Why? "My god.." I mumbled feeling sick.

"Lilly..We have to stop him. We cant hope he will come back this time." Bonnie mumbled. "Just give her a minuet..she doesn't look so good." Caroline said.

I held my stomach and leaned against the counter. I felt my throat closing up. I cant breath. I cant breath! "I..I cant breath.." I gasped out feeling dizzy. "Lilly?" Elena called to me.

I looked at her but there were suddenly three of her..and they were all blurry. "I..I..I cant.." I tried to gasp out again but couldn't. I fell backwards and the moment my head hit the floor I blacked out.
