chapter fourty three

The sun is what woke me up. Kai was in the kitchen..I could hear him. Today..it's the day. The full moon is tonight. It all goes down at midnight.

Bonnie is suppose to come and get the ascendent today. I've got to get Kai out of the house for a while then. I grabbed my phone and told Bonnie to come by right before eleven. I want this done quickly.

She replied quickly with okay and Jeremy will be back at about midnight..so I have to get this done fast. I ran a hand through my hair and I walked into the kitchen. "Morning." I yawned. "Hey." He replied. He turned and I was able to see the oven.

My eyes widened. Eggs..bacon..gravy biscuits..pancakes and blood to drink. "I love you." I blurted smiling. He missed my forehead and grabbed two plates. "Today is just an us day." He said making the plates.

My stomach twisted. I should tell him what I'm doing tonight. No..He might side against it and then I'll really have to pick a side. And I can't do that. "let's go out." I blurted. "After I eat the amazing food you made for me." I added smiling as he handed me a plate full.

"Anywhere specific?" he asked sitting across from me.

Kai and I decided to go to this party he heard about. We just got in the car. We've both changed.

We were headed there now. Apparently its in town and I'm hoping we don't get caught yet. The moon has to be up for this to work at all. I held the hand he wasn't using in the wheel.

I was tempted to tell him. I hate secrets and hiding things from him..But I have to this time. Otherwise we're dead.

Its eight o'clock and the party is already booming. Kai is going to get us more drinks right now. The moon was up..but Bonnie isn't here. I've text her and she's on her way.

It's happening. I glanced to see Kai and my smile feel. He isn't alone. Alaric and Damon were in each side of him.

They found us. "Lilly don't." Elena said. I turned to see her.

"Elena..the way you see Damon. It's how I see him. I can't lose him." I said and turned to walk to Damon and Alaric. "You killed my wife. My kids.." Alaric said tearing up.

He punched Kai hard making him fall and hit his head on the corner of the counter. "Alaric stop." I said firmly standing in front of Kai not letting Alaric to him. He growled. "I'll hit a bitch." he hissed. "Alaric.." Damon warned.

"I'll be the last bitch you hit." I said back. "Move Lilly." Elena said softly. I shook my head. "No way." I mumbled. "Give me the stake..and leave." I growled my eyes flashing red.

I'm gonna have to fight. Kai was now standing next to me and Damon was next to Alaric with Elena behind them. "I'm sorry..I ran..and I never said sorry." Kai mumbled. "Sorry doesn't being my family back.." Alaric sobbed. I glanced to see everyone looking at us..and Kai bleeding.

I saw Bonnie approaching us. "Stop! Wait!" she screamed. I saw Alaric had a stake now and I got ready to block Kai if needed. "Bonnie?" Damon asked.

She handed me the ascendant. "What are you doing?" Elena asked. "I'll handle it." I said jerking the stake from Alaric and throwing it. Bonnie then handed me a machete and nodded. She began mumbling.

"Sanguinem filio, sanguinem effurgarex perpetuum. Sanguinem filio, sanguinem effurgarex perpetuum. Phesmatos filio, phesmatos effurgarex perpetuum." she chanted over and over. "What is this?" Kai asked looking at me. He knew the spell. He looked heart broken.

"No!" Jeremy shouted trying to make it to us. He can explain what I'm doing. I won't be here to do it. I swung at Kai and he didn't even try to move. I chopped his head off and then handed the machete to Bonnie. Shes still chanting.

Everyone was screaming but my friends. They were all shocked and frozen. "Stop!" Jeremy shouted but right before he could get to us Bonnie swung and everything went black.
