• Evan •

I lick my dry lips as I look over at Mackenzie. We're sitting on the couch in her basement watching some reality tv show she put on. I sigh and look back towards the tv. Fidgeting uncomfortably in my seat, I glance at her again out of the corner of my eye.

She picks up the remote next to her and pauses the show, turning to me with a questioning look.

"What is it?" She asks. I furrow my eyebrows and look at her in confusion.

"What is what?" I question. She rolls her eyes and reaches a hand out, thumping my nose. I huff and rub it with my hand.

"Don't bs with me, Evan. You keep glancing at me like you want to say something, so what is it that you want to say?" She questions, a stern expression covering her face.

I sigh and look away from her. "I don't know what you're talking about."

I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn back to look at my best friend. She has a worried look on her face now and it makes me feel kind of bad.

"You know you can talk to me about anything Evan, I'm not going to judge you." She says.

"I know, I know. It's just, I can hardly admit it to myself let alone out loud to someone else." I blurt out, biting down on my lip.

"What is it? Is it something to do with Christian?" She questions, causing me to look at her with wide eyes.

"How did you know?" I ask.

"Well you've been acting strange since you went over to his house and you've been avoiding him."

"Yeah." I say, closing my eyes and thinking back to the morning after I stayed over at Christian's.

I wake up with my back pressed against a warm chest and muscular arms wrapped around me. I don't need to open my eyes to figure out who it is, because it smells like Christian and I remember telling him to text my mom that I was staying over.

I finally do open my eyes and I glance down at the arms around me. Very carefully, I pick up the arm thrown over my torso and move it away from me. I sit up and look over at the boy sleeping next to me. He must have moved sometime in his sleep because he's all the way on my side.

I get out of the bed slowly so I don't disturb Christian. Wanting to leave, I look around and realize that my clothes are probably in his laundry room and I don't know where that is. I sigh, biting my lip. I guess it doesn't matter, I can always get them later.

I make sure I have my phone, wallet, and keys before quietly leaving the room. I walk down the stairs and eventually find my way out of the house. Christian's parents still aren't home, I notice.

I wonder if they came back late last night and left early. I quickly shake my head to get rid of the thoughts. That doesn't matter, what matters is me getting out of here.

These past two weeks since then I've been avoiding Christian to the best of my abilities. Things would just be awkward and I don't want to face it right now. I don't want to face the weird feelings that I'm having for him either.

"Earth to Evan." Mackenzie says, poking my cheek.

"Mm. Sorry, I was just thinking." I tell her, letting out a deep breath.
