"So man," Dean begins, strangely hesitant to say what he wants to say. He rubs the back of his neck, before looking back up at me. "Do you want to go on a date?"

"Excuse me?"

Dean and I both turn to look at Evan who is currently sitting beside Mackenzie at our usual table outside. Ever since me and Evan started dating a few weeks ago, they've joined us for break. Everyone gets along pretty well, besides Sawyer and Mackenzie. She thinks he's a disgusting pig, which I can't really deny.

Evan's face is too cute right now. He's obviously jealous because of what Dean just asked, though he would never admit it. Right, what Dean just asked. I turn back to look at him and raise an eyebrow.

"I mean on a double date. You guys with me and Max." He clears up. My eyebrows furrow and I give him a questioning look.

"Max?" I ask, shocked. Evan chooses that moment to butt in, looking equally surprised.

"You're gay?!" He questions incredulously, then breaks out into hysterical laughter. "Oh man, that's great. We would love to go on a double date!"

I scoff and look from Evan to Dean, who's giving me a hopeful look. Sighing, I shrug my shoulders and nod my head. "Okay, sure. But you obviously have some things to tell me."

Dean goes on to explain what happened the morning after Evan and I's first date. He also tells us how he asked Max on a date but didn't know what to do, so he figured a double date would be cool.

"Oh my gosh! That's so cute, but you want your first date with him to be with these losers?" Mackenzie asks.

"Yeah," Dean shrugs, "I mean, we were there for their first date." My eyebrows furrow and I look over at Evan, wondering if he knows what Dean is talking about. Evan doesn't seem to know so I look back at Dean.

"So, anyways!" Dean exclaims. "This Saturday I was thinking we could go see a movie in Cansville and get dinner afterwards."

Cansville is a town about an hour and a half away from our own. I guess Dean picked there so that we're less likely to see someone we know. It's always still a possibility though, so I don't know if Evan would be okay with that.

"What do you think, Evan?" I ask, looking down at him. He smiles up and me and nods his head.

    "Sounds cool."

The bell rings, telling us that break is over. Evan and Mackenzie stand up and begin gathering their stuff. I watch Evan longingly, wanting nothing more than to hold his hand and walk him to class. He doesn't want to come out yet and I get that, I really do.

I'm not out either and I know how daunting just thinking about coming out can be. I don't really care what other people think, but I never had a reason to come out either. Now I do. I want to come out so I can kiss him and act all lovey dovey with him whenever I want.

"Let's get to class then." Evan sighs.

I can't hold his hand, but I can walk with him to class and no one would even suspect anything because we, of course, have all the same classes. I leave about two feet of distance between us as we walk, Mackenzie trailing behind us, doing something on her phone.

I walk closer to Evan and lean down slightly towards his ear. "You really want to go on a double date with them? In public?" I ask in a whisper.

He nods his head and shrugs his shoulders. "Yeah, it might be fun. We probably won't see anyone we know and even if we do, we'll just look like a group of guys hanging out." He replies quietly.

We get to our classroom and all three of us make our way to empty seats in the back. I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, like maybe going on this double date isn't the best idea. I shake my head to clear my thoughts. I'm sure everything will be fine.

• Evan •

When the last bell for the day rings, I jump out of my chair and gather my stuff quickly, before exiting the room, leaving Christian and Mackenzie behind. I'm just so ready to get out of here. Today's been so long and boring really. I'm walking towards the doors that lead outside of the building, when someone suddenly grabs my arm to stop me.

I turn around and, to my surprise, see that Hannah is the one that stopped me. My eyebrows shoot up in surprise and confusion. We haven't talked since she broke up with me.

"Hannah? Uh, what's up?" I ask confused. She bites her lip and looks up at me from under her eyelashes.

"I think I made a mistake, Evan. I miss you so much." She says, sounding upset. I think her eyes are actually starting to water too.

When I realize what she actually said, I'm stunned into silence. I never imagined she would want me back. Well, it's not like it actually matters anymore. I have Christian and I don't want her back, which I guess is also kind of surprising.

I'm too caught up in my thoughts to notice Hannah leaning in and when I finally come back to earth, it's too late, she's already pressing her lips to mine. I pull away quickly and look around, hoping Christian didn't just see that. I don't see him, just Mackenzie who's looking at me disappointedly and shaking her head.

"Are you serious, Evan?" Hannah starts, sounding angry. "I'm trying to get back together with you and you're focused on Mackenzie. How typical."

I literally have no words for that. I just shake my head and walk away towards Mackenzie quickly. She's got her hands on her hips, waiting for an explanation.

"I don't know what that was, honestly. Let's just go before she comes for me again." I say, taking Mackenzie's arm and walking towards the exit. Once we're outside, Mackenzie pulls me to a stop.

"Evan! Christian saw that kiss. You need to find him and explain, because I know it wasn't your fault, right?" She says urgently.

I shake my head, looking around. "No, she kissed me! I need to find him."

I leave Mackenzie standing in front of the building as I run off to where I know Christian parked. I catch him just as he's getting into it.

"Christian!" I call out. I get to him and stop him from shutting his car door. He looks up at me angrily.

"What do you want, Evan? You got Hannah back so why are you here?" He questions, his jaw clenching.

"I don't have Hannah back and I don't want her back. She kissed me while I wasn't really paying attention. I'm sorry." I explain and his face softens.

"Really?" He asks softly, sounding so insecure and I kinda want to 'awe' at him, but I know it's definitely not the time. "Why did she kiss you?"

I shrug my shoulders and scratch the back of my head. "She said she wanted to get back together, but I'm over her! I swear."

Christian smiles. "Good."
