Ray's Pov

"Goodbye, Ace," Ash whispered and leaned down to kiss his sleeping brother on the forehead. I could see tears flowing down his cheeks but when I tried to wipe them away, Ash just pushed me away. I realized that he wanted to do this, so I Iet him do it.

Ash shut the door quietly and turned away, without looking back even once. I followed Ash to the door and out into the night sky where Sky, Jade, Wand and Heather were waiting. But I was staring only at Ash. His back was straight with his head held high, even though I knew that all he wanted was to go back in the house and be with his brothers and sister.

We were leaving. We were going to journey to the School. That was our only hope of a safe place. There were perils to be faced in the journey but all of us were prepared to traverse the bridge. We knew that we would probably die but we were still going to go on. It was our only hope right now.

All of us were wearing black clothes to be hidden in the shadows. We wore finger less gloves and black sneakers too. Each of us carried a backpack which held the essentials like rope, food, water, flashlights, batteries, cash and different other things. I also had a gun. Ash hadn't approved the idea of a gun at first but I managed to convince him. It was tough though.

I nodded at Sky and she gave a sad smile back at me. All of us followed behind her and to her car. She opened the garage and we piled in. I immediately ran to the driver's side and said,

"I'm driving!"

"No, you're not!" yelled Sky. "I have the keys!"

I groaned and started to run towards her when Wand stepped forward and punched Sky in the chest like, really hard. Sky doubled over in pain and gasped. Wand looked up at me with the keys in her hands, a smirk playing on her lips.

"Ray's driving," she said simply and threw the keys to me.

I caught them, still in shock. Ash called shotgun and the rest of them piled into the cramp backseat. I smiled at that.

I started the engine trying to make as little noise as possible. I reversed out of the garage and with a final look at the house, I drove into the trees.

It was dark at first. After a while, my eyes adjusted and I could see the trees and branches. Even though I could see, it was still hard to do so. I almost drove into a tree and heard Sky mumbling something about her being better at driving than me. Maybe, driving in the night and in a forest wasn't the brightest idea. At least, it wasn't me who said it; it was Sky.

"I'm bored," whined Sky after a few minutes of silence. I was concentrating really hard on not driving into a particularly big rock and almost banged my head on the steering wheel.

"Quit the whining!" I yelled and Sky immediately stopped her groaning. Maybe I was a little harsh with her but I was trying to concentrate...

I drove the car through the trees, trying to avoid hitting any of them when suddenly, Sky yelled,

"Stop the car immediately!"

And I drove the car into a tree. It was unavoidable. I banged my head rather hard on the wheel and started feeling woozy. I shook it off slightly and turned to look at Sky with an angry glare.
