Ray's Pov
"So, why were you acting like Ash in the first place?" I asked Miles whose eyes remained fixed on the road ahead.
Ash was staring at me, his bright green eyes dazzling. According to Miles, we were only a few miles away from the hospital but it felt like forever. Seeing Ash bleed was horrible but Miles couldn't drive any faster than he already could.
Miles blushed at my question. I had the urge to laugh at him but resisted. It would do no good for me to laugh right now.
"I wanted to kiss you," he declared. Ash's hands tightened round me and I hugged him back just as tight. Was he jealous?
"What are you?" The question had been running through my mind for ages.
"There's no specific name for our species. We're a minor class but just as dangerous as any Heafi in this. You could say that I'm somewhere between a vampire and a Heafi."
What am I supposed to say that? I shut my mouth and played with Ash's hair. He was unbelievably quiet and not hearing his voice, sent a pang through my heart. I leaned down and pressed my lips to his ear.
"No kissing in the car, damnit!" screamed Miles and my head immediately shot up. Miles was staring at me, his eyes literally glowing red.
There was the squeal of brakes from behind and Miles pressed down on the accelerator making the car zoom across the street. I placed a hand over my heart, trying to calm it down.
"Slow down, will ya?" I shouted at him but Miles wasn't listening. His eyes were glowing so brightly, I was afraid that they might burn holes through the glass. And then, everything was over when Miles slammed down on the brakes. Miles unbuckled his seatbelt and lunged out of the car. He shut the door in a loud bang after hissing, I'll be back in a few minutes, and ran off.
His sudden attitude change was shocking to me. What had gone wrong? Didn't he like me kissing Ash in the car? But I had every right to kiss my boyfriend wherever I wanted. Had times changed when I was out in the streets?
"Ray, I feel dizzy," Ash said, his hair hanging over his eyes.
I pushed the thoughts about Miles to the back of my mind and concentrated on Ash. He looked pale all of a sudden and he was shivering. Was this another bout of fever, like the one that he had got in the car with Sky and the others?
"Ash, hold on, okay? Do you need water?" I cried, desperate to help.
He nodded but as I stretched forward to grab the water from the side, Ash pulled me down by the neck and crushed his lips on mine. The taste of his lips was unbelievable. They were so sweet. He tasted incredible. I moaned loudly.
"Let me... get... the water.. okay?" I panted between kisses. Ash refused to let go of me and shoved his tongue into my mouth. His tongue was suddenly demanding and passionate. Hungry and needy. His hands slipped under my shirt and pinched my nipple, making me groan.
"Stop... Just... let me get the water," I gasped. His kisses were taking a toll on me. All I wanted to do was lose myself in his glorious kiss.
"I don't want to let you go," Ash mumbled, his hold on me tightening.
"I will never leave you, Ash. I swear. I could never do that. You know that," I said, stopping in my struggles to get free. Ash got on top of me and sat on my lap, swinging his legs on either side of me. His eyes were pleading. He looked so adorable.
